Robben Vs. Ribéry

Both wonderfully effective players, both a pain in the backside for ANY defender to have to tether for 90+ minutes, both bemoaned for the fact that neither specimen can ever be classed as "classically handsome", both Bayern Munich players.

Arjen Robben has seriously come into his own in the last 2 seasons. He's ALWAYS had the talent, but not always the consistency or application (in my moist opinion).

Few wingers have the level of dribbling skill, close control or natural finishing ability that Robben has at his disposal. The anti-hirsute Dutchman is a serious weapon and no mistake! Naturally, unless you're a Bayern fan, it can be difficult to like Robben as a guy, such is his propensity for theatrics & gamesmanship! That aside, it's difficult to argue with his ability as a footballer.

Franck Ribéry himself is no slouch with a football at his feet. He can dribble as though his very life depends on it, he also knows where the goal is and doesn't need an invitation to the party when having a (usually) accurate shot on goal is concerned. Of course the Frenchman has the look & demeanour of a Soho deviant, but that's surely all a part of the Bayern man's allure?

As a PLAYER, in terms of overall effectiveness, I rate Robben higher than Ribery right now. Pretty close call though. I appreciate the Frenchman has missed a portion of the season with Bayern this season do to surgery on his buttocks (I didn't make that up by the way), but I just feel that Robben has reached a new level of confidence & power that elevates him marginally above his deviant brother in arms.

I'm curious as to how Robben and Ribéry get on against David Moyes & his merry rabble of cosmic-eunuchs in the Champions League this week. It could be a rough ride for the Utd fullbacks if Bayern slip into gear like only they know how.

Anyway, I digress. Who's the better player, Robben or Ribéry? ANSWER ME!
