Last nights Home tie with Bayern got me thinking, how many times have we played the 1st leg at home first and how we have faired in the away legs during the knock out phase of the Champions League. Surprisingly this has only happened on 10 previous occasions.
Our home records is ...
Won 3 (progressing twice - Inter Milan (99) (2-0 home/drew 1-1 away)..... Arsenal (09) (1-0 home/won 3-1 away )....Only AC Milan (07)(3-2 home/lost 3-0 away) was our only defeat over two legs)
Drawn 4 (Progressing again twice.... Juve (99) (1-1 home/won 3-2 away); Porto (09) (2-2 Home / 1-0 away). Both Galatasary (93) & Leverkusen (02) we also drew the away leg , but went out on the away goal rule)
Lost 3 (Dortmund (98); Bayern (01) & AC Milan (05) we lost both the home & away legs in all three defeats)
So our record after drawing the home leg isn't to bad. So I have a bit of faith for next weeks game.
And Yes I do have a life!!!!! There is just sweet F.A happening in work this afternoon to keep my overactive mind busy.
An (un)interesting Champs League Stat.

Bayern have the upper hand. Moyes can't afford to play like he did yesterday, because Bayern will happily keep the ball and don't do jack all with it.

I doubt their manager is that stupid.

50... Its what Bayern do with that upper hand... do they stick or twist. It only one lapse of concentration by Bayern for Utd to score and cancel the away goal. Juve in 99 went for it, were 2-0 up after 10 mins, sat on it, got punished.

Bayerns record at home against English teams is diabolical, our recent record in Germany is pretty good . Our away record in general this season is a lot better than our home record. They (Bayern) will be worried about the next game, no doubt about that.

They won't be thinking it is going to be easy, that is for sure.

Won't be easy, but I have a feeling we may do it. No doubt bayern are a superior footballing side, but if the defence and bank of 3 in front can keep the shape and performance of last night, and we can counter like last night, then there's a possibility, a slim one, but I think bayern will struggle against a deep defence, a la barca style.
