Pro Evo 2014 on PS Plus this month

Pes 2014 is awesome!
best one yet IMO

I actually played the demo yesterday and....well surprisingly I enjoyed it quite a lot. Not perfect by any stretch but still. I will need to put in more time to see if I'm willing to purchase it.

Captain play it for a good 20-30 games at least. I also thought it was quite good but then you find a few ai things are broken, just wait for the pinball goal as the keeper seems incapable of picking up the ball etc and then when the ball gets loose in the middle.

he trick system is the best I've used in a football game, is great.
Right stick to where you want to go to then straight after the left stick to where you want to end up, have done some great moves with it.

OK. I've had a few days to play. Now when I've played I've done so with another player on my team. I have to say it COMPLETELY blows FIFA out of the water. The game play is so so much better and IMO realistic. The change of direction and passing are miles ahead. There are faults to this game for sure. Like the speed handicaps for defense against attackers and the ever so slight feeling of railing. Not to mention the ridiculous change in form from one match to another. HOWEVER, placing just about everything on manual settings (not through ball) and I could not be happier ATM. The plays I've been able to pull off and variety of goals (ahem FIFA) have made me celebrate goals like crazy.

The catch - I have played previous PES demos throughout the years. They always seem to be great but when I buy the complete game it never feels the same. I am so weary of buying this game because of it. Just about all patches KONAMI pull off ruin their games a little more. I think I will pass on this years game to see what the next gen game looks like. I will continue to enjoy my micro games on the demo until then.

PES 2014 is leaps and bounds better than FIFA 14 on ps3...

Bit Fifa on ps4... Now that's good!

Those last 2 comments are depressing. I was hoping it would at least be fun. FIFA is so boring. The AI is a big ol cheat. You can tell from the off whether or not the AI will be letting you get a win or not.

I hate that if you're playing a very noticeably weaker side and decide to play an even slightly weakened team to rest a good player all of a sudden you're the worst side ever just because you're not at full strength.

Some positives.The passing is smooth and responsive, there's a few nice touches like editing how the crowd reacts after a defeat, the crowd animation is very good as well, choosing your top "rivals", more leagues.

But the actual game...wow! really bad IMO.

When i wanted to shoot first time, the player would take a touch, when i wanted to head the ball he'd take it on his chest.

When I wanted my centre back to mark a particular centre forward he would charge up the pitch from kick off leaving a huge, gaping hole in the middle of my defence.

I conceded a free-kick right on the edge of the box my team only set up a two man wall that wasn't even in line with the free-kick taker.

Corners, oh my word corners!

When defending, my player would just run over to the corner quadrant and take the ball or kick it out of play, every time.

Every team plays one-touch tiki taka, Barca & Cardiff practically play the same, there's like 12 stadiums and no rain, not very realistic and lacks variety.

My thoughts exactly - the engine is pretty solid, and there are some nice bits, broken AI however destroys the game.

I've noticed just about all of those complaints with my time playing the game. The shoulder to shoulder running down the pitch for 45 yards, ridiculous stops that players do when clear through on goal for the defense to catch up, players basically have the ball chained to their feet....still I'm enjoying it more than FIFA it's bad in some areas and great in others. IMO it's just more fun. I'm enjoying playing!! I can't say that I enjoy FIFA. I just go through the motions.
