Burton Albion 1-0 Plymouth

Well we grinded out yet another 1-0 win yesterday ,with a much improved performance especially during the first half . It could easily have been 3-0 at the interval but as the game wore on we seemed to invite the oposition on to us ,it had shades of Wimbledon the other week but we held on. We are almost over the line with regards to the play offs now, Bradford managed 69pts last season to get seventh spot ,and we all know what happened there . I thought Symes looked really good when he came on in the second half , he hardly missed a header ,and looked mobile and hungry . Shame really Macdonald didnt make the same impact when he came on for Kee . We have options now going into the last five games ,belief is the key , a win against Chesterfield at home in a few weeks would bring us level ,but first we have to get points from Northampton away , Hartlipool at home and Newport away . Fleetwood could also spoil the party and sneak third spot . My gut feeling is that automatic promotion is a bridge too far and that we will end up playing Southend in the semi finals ,possibly a week or so after playing them in the last match away . Hope im wrong .

At the start of the season , I would have been very happy if I knew we would be in the playoffs again. The next 3 points might be enough.
I still think we must fight it out to the end and go for a auto spot. We just don't know if the other teams in the mix are going to have a bad run of form.
If we can win at least two out of the next three games, the Chesterfield game is going to be a massive game for both clubs.
Well done Brewers one game down , five more to go.

I went to the wrong ground for the first 45 minutes and watched an entertaining performance from a team wearing our colours. They passed the ball about and created chances. Excellent stuff.

The second half was a bit more of a grind. I would have preferred to have seen Symes, Hemmings or Knowles put in an appearance before Big Mac. I thought that incorrect substitution handed the initiative to them. I agree, Symes looked hungry when he came on.

I thought that Alexander was absolute class. He played with so much intelligence. If only he had been with us from the start of the season and playing like that. That hour from him showed what we have been missing all season. Him and Zeli playing from game one at their best and we would have been promoted long ago.
