Evening all
Just rewatched the game and I got to be honest I thought Anders in goal made a huge difference as he looked more ''in charge'' of the goal area generally.
David has far better reflexes and those dynamic goal line saves yet I always feel he doesn't like coming off the goal line, this worries me as the defenders have more work to do .
I honestly believe that david needs to fix this as it reflects on how the defence play and feel in terms of secure in the knowledge that the goalie ''has got it''
Not slating david here just an observation. Thoughts?

Linders has never let us down. I have always said that we have the best back up GK in the world bar Real Madrid. He doesn't moan or complain. He derseves a new and improved contract.

I think that Anders is a top keeper and too good to be backup. De Gea has shown that he deserves to be no.1 and keeps getting better and better, but I really do like Anders. Not really ever let us down and has made some top saves.

As I said fellas, maybe its just me, DDG is hands down better than Anders overall
yet against Newcastle when I read anders was in the starting 11 I thought oh no because of the superb saves DDG has made against even the ''lesser'' teams
Yet as the match progressed I felt more ''secure'' with ANders command of the area, something I personally feel DDG doesn't do and at times I scream for him to come out off his goal line

I think and have noticed the same RR and its a very good observation for me, it is the one major thing that De Gea has left to improve and he will be Spains number 1 for years.

I don't think they are currently far apart. When Minders deputised in DDG's absence sometime last year, he showed glimpses of a quality GK. I think he has more command or his area too. If DDG gets injured I will not be worried.

De Gea is miles ahead of Lindergaard. But you are right OP, De Gea is very hesistant off his line. Not only from set pieces etc, but from general play. Something he needs to work on. It's an area where other keepers, Lloris for example, excel.

I really don't think that he is. Both are very good keepers. De Gea is no doubt that better of the two, but Anders is a top keeper.

I've been saying for a long time on here that my main criticism of DDG is his insistence to stay on his line, plenty of times when teams are attacking us and there's a possible 50/50 situation with him and the striker he refuses to come, still not greatly worried about him as he's a quality keeper who's improvement is noticeable.
We have other more pressing areas of concern

Personally, I have had doubts over DDG many times this season.
I had always backed him during his first couple of campaigns, when he was getting a lot of criticism, but he doesn't seem to have made significant improvements.
The main concern is that he seems to have little influence over his defence. VDS was an organiser first and a shot stopper second. That is the way a top goalkeeper has to be. There is also the fact that De Gea is far too happy to stay in the comfort of his own 6 yard box. I just don't think it's acceptable for a keeper to have almost no influence over what is happening on the rest of the pitch.
Obviously David is still young, but I don't think that it is follows that because he is one of the best young shot stoppers around, that he will become one of the best goalkeepers in the world, with all that entails.
Anders speaks very good English, seems to have more command, and has shown glimpses of ability. I don't really like the idea of changing your goalkeeper every two weeks, and it is hard to fathom how Lindegaard could become our number one, considering how much we spent on De Gea, however I think that he should definitely be given a look in.
I think that we could look to loan Anders out next season to a good club (maybe taking advantage of the Courtois situation to get him to Athletico) and then see how he does playing every week. At the same time we could let De Gea know that if he doesn't make significant strides in his communication and command of his defence, his place will be under serious threat.

Why?
He doesn't let us down
It was only Newcastle
League games are pretty much dead rubbers now
We have Munich on Wednesday
I expected and hoped Linde would get a game at the weekend. I was hoping to see James Wilson get 20 minutes too although I doubted it would happen
