Sunday 13th April

If any of you are free on Sunday....There's a charity football match being played at 2pm at Matlock Town's ground.....
The game is between Ex-Rams (managed by Roger Davies) and The Boat Inn 11 (managed by Jake Buxton)
It should be a good afternoon and I will be featuring at some point in the match...not sure which team I'll be turning out for yet.....
It would be good to see some of you lot there...

PS Do you have a list of the Derby players?

I played fort he boat, the 1st half in midfield trying to get near Marc Edworthy and then the 2nd half I played centre back as they wanted some young legs in the middle of defence....young legs? I'm 10 months away from being 40. Injured my shoulder when Roger Davies fell on top of me....out for the season now....It was a good day tho' and the ex-players may be getting on abit but they still know how to knock the ball around. My dad ran the line and threaten to knock me out when I moaned at him.

Ex-players who turned out were...
Graham Harbey,
Roger Davies
Marc Edworthy
Trev Hebberd.
ex-crewe player PaulEdwards was the tall ginger player in centre midfield alongside Edworthy. Other players were Hebberds son Liam (big stocky lad up front) who missed an open goal in the 1st half. Roger Davies' son Ben played on the left. It's a shame idiakez and Ramage couldn't make it. Idiakez would of been hard work to play against in the middle of the pitch. The landlord of the Boat played in goal and to be fair to him, he made some cracking saves.....still lost 9-3....Jake Buxton but the Liverpool game was too much of an attraction for him

Cheers Griff I saw the tackle, was your Dad running the line in the first half then? Paul Edwards had a good game couldn't recongise Trevor Hebbard though. Didn't see too much of the game, my kids wanted to spend more time playing football and figthing each other than letting me watch it

My wife said the same thing about the Derby team, running they looked like a very poor sunday league team but on the ball, I guess they never lose it.

Saw Bucko in the stand first half, if he was the manager of you lot think he's not quite at Steve Mc's level yet...lol

Hope your shoulder gets better, are you guys doing it again next year?

yeah mate....my dad got roped into running the line in the 1st half in front of the main stand. Trev Hebberd as lost his air and is really tall and thin. He played in midfield. Even Graham Harbey can still knock the ball around with ease and he took his goal well. Edworthy was head and shoulders above everyone on the field, and to be fair to him he gives alot of praise out thro the game. I thought I messed up when I clear a ball instead of letting it go thro' to the keeper when he shouted but Edworthy came up to me and said I'd done the right thing.
Paul Edwards is a Derby lad and he once got banned for 3 games for shouting abuse at the Forest A Block while warming up as a sub for Crewe a few season ago. He had a Rams T-shirt on under his Crewe shirt and he showed the the A Block it.
