Player Ratings

Now it is sinking it a bit more that we can really avenge 3 years ago let's rate the performers today.

Fabianski - 8 - Competent when called upon and played a massive role in the shoot-out, Wenger's loyalty to him paid off

Sagna - 7 - Solid throughout with his typical 2-3 special deliveries

Mert - 7.5 - Penalty was rash and looked a tiny bit shaky without Kos in the first half but showed great character in the end fantastic shift from him

TV - 6.5 - Most the opposition danger is always in his zone of the field but very good on the ball wasn't bad by any means

Monreal - 6 - Was a lot better today than he has been to be fair to him but didn't do contribute too much either.

Arteta - 7 - I felt he was hiding and was lacking influence in the first half but after the goal he was getting on the ball a lot more and breaking up Wigan's play a fair bit albeit illegally at times. Put the momentum with us with the 1st pen.

Ramsey - 7 - A tad rusty but very tidy at times and was always trying to make things happen, got a good glimpse of the enthusiasm we've missed in the middle. Solid comeback

Santi - 6.5 - Still has higher standards than demonstrated today but is still so cute and clever with the ball at feet kept us ticking in spells.

Ox - 8 - Was unlucky hitting the bar, was a big threat and I'm so grateful he was available just in the nick of time you felt he'd be a threat and he was deserved some kind of stat today through an assist or goal.

Poldi - 6.5 - Was very quiet early on but later was trying to make us find a way back into the game. His momentum was killed on the sub though.

Sanogo - 6.5 - This rating feels a bit harsh but the lack of a goal probably defines it however he gave us something we've missed for so long which was an overall threat, was a handful for them and his mobility was refreshing.

Gibbs - 7.5 - Was very effective and was an upgrade on Monreal. Decision making in the final 3rd still let's him down but gave us some good energy

Giroud - 6 - Came on and gave us a good option but still didn't threaten much, showed bottle on the penalty

Kallstrom - N/A special mention to his penalty though

Wenger (a few weeks back): Kallstrom may have "that one important goal" in him. Credit where it is due Mr. Wenger

Only saw from half time but Arteta was very good, Cazorla very bad and everyone else in between. Fabs did very well in the shoot out, of course.

Podolski should have a lower rating for me. All the ratings a tad generous as well. That was a 5/10 Arsenal performance in my eye.

Cazorla needs to show us more creativity and imagination. We need more from him.

Arteta and I am of a different opinion to DJ's worries me. He slows us down and lost possession.

I would have subbed Podolski allthough he was quite dissappointing. It payed off finally but I dont want to see Sanogo/Giroud upfront again.

Santi was freaking shocking. After his big talk about winning trophies he gives a performance like that.
