Manuel Pellegrini has been given an easy ride at Manchester City this season and the club has under-achieved. With the squad he has at his disposal, as well as the money they spent in the Summer and in the last few years, Manchester City should be doing a lot better in all competitions. Manchester City is not a club that was bought out this season and going through transition. They’ve had extortionate investment for over five seasons now, and realistically speaking they should be finishing comfortably in the top 2 every season, let’s not kid ourselves. They should definitely have a lot more points than they currently do in the PL.
Pellegrini has had Manchester City playing incredibly entertaining Football this season, scoring a ridiculous amount of goals and hammering teams time and time again. This has massively over shadowed poor results against the likes of Cardiff and Sunderland. I think due to this exciting brand of Football and his respectable, quite likeable character, he doesn’t get much criticism from the media or supporters of other teams.
If Mancini’s sacking is anything to go by, surely Pellegrini has to go this summer if he doesn’t win anything?

He has but who do they get in if they sack him? Almost impossible to tell how good a manager will be even with a first class pedigree. I really do wonder if the whole 'celebrity footballer' thing somehow negates the work of a manager at least some of the time?

Idiotic article. There is transition. He's taken over from Mancini and brought an entirely new brand of football. That takes time. It was only a couple of months ago that they were being hailed as possibly the best in the world. He's also won a trophy this year. Give him time. At least he's playing football to entertain, the way it should be. If he wins the league that way, and it's still not impossible, he'll surpass anything Mancini or Mourinho has ever done. Them two suck the life out of football, turning artists into machines and draining flair from the game. The game is still about glory and I hope that one day Pellegrini's brand of football cleans up all the trophies in this country so people will stop championing football killers like Mourinho. God, I hope Chelsea don't win it this season.

Agree Fridge and I think they will give him more time and I entirely agree re your comment on Maureen. I hope Liverpool get it instead of Chelsea and if they don't, City, just so long as Chelsea get nothing of note this season...

He's won the league cup and got them out of the group stages of the CL. That's already an improvement on last season when they won nothing and finished bottom of their group.
I don't disagree it's a disappointing season for them but as it's his first season he'd be unlucky to lose his job. Mancini on the other hand wasn't unlucky to lose his when he did.

I've got a horrible feeling Chelsea will do it though. The City Sunderland result suits Chelsea really as they know that all they have to do is go to Anfield and win. They have Sunderland, Norwich and Cardiff and all three could be dead and buried by the time they play them. They've got easier fixtures than Liverpool plus they know how to win important games when it really matters. City went to Anfield and played a brand of football that suited Liverpool on the counter. Chelsea will sit back, soak, frustrate and probably nick something on the counter. It's too close to call. You could argue that the original article is right in that Pellegrini was probably a little tactically naive going there playing that way but in my book it's still better to lose playing the right way than win ugly. This is what really annoys me when people compare Mourinho to Cloughie. No chance. Wasn't it Clough that said he wanted his Leeds team to 'win it better' than Don Revie? It's not always about winning, it's about winning well.

They will sit back I reckon. They know that the best way to play Liverpool is by frustrating them and making sure that you're solid first and foremost. They'll definitely score, it's about whether they concede. Sterling won't get nearly as much room as he had against City. They were so open. It played into Liverpool's hands.

3 games this season. City lose 2-1 at Stamford bridge a really close game 1-1 till a 92nd min mix up between Hart & Nastasic. How was that Pellegrini being made a mug of? @nd game at the Etihad Chelsea were the better side & deserved the 1-0 victory. No arguments there.
! week later in the F.A cup 5th round city win 2-0 at the Etihad totally dominating Chelsea reducing them to 1 shot on target in 90mins & 3 on off target. Hardly the dominating picture you paint.
Maybe you should watch the games instead of repeating sensationalist tabloid journalism.
