Team for 1st test v sri lanka

englandwhoelse, i may look like a donut here but in starting XI with the long batting line up youve only selected 10 players. We are playing bad enough at the moment we dont need to give the opposition any more help.

For the record, Bresnan is certain to get into the squad sadly. For me their should be eight places up for grabs with Cook Bell and Stokes the only certain starters. Their has to be some reaction to the abject winter performances. I notice Bresnan isnt playing in Yorkshires opening matches, is he injured ??

Adil Rashid should get another chance with England, his batting has improved dramatically, scoring lots of runs for Yorkshire, also he actually turns the ball square when he gets it right, though he may need to tighten up his line for test match level.

Confused by the openerdiscussions, its obvious Robson should open with Cook. His performances over the year for County and Lions has been excellent. He also gets big scores.

With no Trott, I would have Root 3 and leave him there regardless of others who may become available.

That leaves a bit of a selection dilemma as Yorkshire have 3 England players ready to come back in (Root, Bairstow & Bresnan)

The problem for us Yorkshire is who do we take out in order for those 3 above players to play?

Yeah. Bairstow when fit will come in for Hodd.

Bresnan will possibly come in for Plunkett,though harshly, I woyld leave out Parrerson.

Root is the interesting one. Rashid is spinner at six. Lees just scored 90, Lyth has hit a big score, Ballance is in nick. Williamson is overseas.

That leaves you with Gale......

Ironic really, might struggle to get in the Yorkshire team but cant get for love nor money get out of the England team...no matter how inept he is

Root in for Lyth, Bairstow for Hodd and Bresnan for Patterson

10 players will be enough to beat the lankans... they are nothing special.England are back. we are going to destroy everyone from now on.

Can't see a spinner worth picking so going in with a 4 man pace attack with root as occasional spinner.
