Rooney the biggest con ever?

He surely is. Before the start of every tournament he somehow becomes England's hero. Media can't seem to take their mouth out of his baton.
Utd are his female dog. They also love to bend over for him to give him pleasure. All that and he gives back feck all. 10 years of same crap which won't ever end. He's not improved much since he was 18. Probably reached 50% of his potential. He may have trophies to show for it but that doesn't show the quality of a player. A real talent gone down the drain but the one thing we've all mocked him is for his intelligence but that low key intelligence has mocked utd and the media in the end by creating an illusion.

There are certainly more effective players in the squad than him who have had a far better season. In theory he shouldn't be a nailed on starter, but England managers never have the balls to drop likes of Rooney.
He's still a good player and I'd take him, but he certainly shouldn't be considered the first name on the team sheet like he is.

Gerrard Henderson
Sterling Ox Lallana
Sturridge

This would be exciting to see.

Ol' hedgehog will somehow fit Barry, Milner and Rooney in there though.

Hopefully Rooney'll come good this time around !

COME ON ENGLAND !!!

I'd play something similar to your team as well. But we all know roy will bottle it and leave out likes of Lallana, Henderson, ox, and sterling. Especially against Italy and Uruguay.

Man United haven't won a Premier league title when Rooney has been the main man. 2007-2009 Ronaldo was the main man. 2010 it was Rooney and they lost the title by a point. 2011 Berbatov was Man I top scorer. 2012 Rooney main man and they lose title on goal difference and 2013 Van Persie the main man and they won the title.

There's a couple knee-jerk reactions in here for sure. Who should we play instead of Rooney?

In terms of goalscorers to pick from, he's only second behind Sturridge in the league, and is tied with Gerrard for second most assists.

Lallana is a lot easier on the eye but he's contributed to way less goals this season, despite having played in almost 10 more games.

I'm not trying to big up Rooney here, but he's quite easily the best we've got right now. Led the team in qualifying goals as well...

All in all, Rooney has been tremendous for Man United. For England, however, he has done very little. All his World and European Cup performances since 1998 have been disastrous.
