glazers and the bucs

I've had a curiosity with how the glazers ran the bucs ever since they bought the club-always thought it'd be a useful guide to the direction united would go once saf left. Here's a few things (anyone with more knowledge on the nfl etc feel free to correct me)

1. They're not afraid to take risks on young/unproven manager-Jon Gruden came in as a relative unkown and became the youngest coach to win the superbowl. Raheem morris hired in 09 was the youngest ever nfl coach

2. They hire/fire coaches based on style of play- they rejected other choices in 2001 as they were too defensive, and again fired another coach for having a defensive style of play. (note they overruled other people at the club when it came to coach choice in 2001)

3. They're not afraid to back the manager financially when need be. They've just signed $140mn worth of contracts within 72 hours of free agency (the highest in the league). (They don't do this regularly but if the team is struggling/new manager is brought in he's usually backed)

4 They're ruthless when it comes to failure. Pretty much every coach thats been fired by the glazers has been because they've failed to make the play offs- they even did this to the title winning coach gruden.

5. They'll rip off the club/fans/advertisers for any bit of money they can.

6. They're quite forward thinking when it comes to the running of the club and willing to invest in improving the facilities. Tampa bay now have the most expensive/largest training ground in the nfl.

Just a few things I've noted from them that seem to be relevant to the man utd. Although ofc united and football is a totally different beast to the bucs and the nfl (and probably one they know much less about in the performance aspect of it all).

So, all in all what direction will the glazers look to take based on past history?

My guess is they'll wait until the seasons over. Maybe because of clauses in the contract or for lack of someone better or on fergies advice-I don't know. One thing, they didn't seem to sack mid season at the bucs either (not sure if thats just a nfl cultural thing or not)

I think it's just because the Glazers allow the football brains at the club to make those decisions, probably the same as the NFL side the own.

maybe, but they've also shown to reject the advice of those people at tampa bay when they went for gruden over someone more defensive. Granted they probably take fergies advice much more highly than anyone at the bucs but they're also not afraid to do it there way.

Teams in the NFL don't sack mid season. All the firings come at the end of the teams campaign.

He point the Glazers get involved with the football, is the point we should really worry.

If you bother to actually find out, you will know that there's a 2-yr contingency built into the MUFC financial plan without CL participation. Moreover, most of the recent and lucrative sponsorship contracts won't start delivering payload until 2017. They're in it for, at least, the mid-haul. What's £6 million to MUFC on Moyes' contract? Peanuts, son. Now, what's Wayne's annual salary?

Kerr-I fail to see the relevance, this isn't about the clubs finances. I'm sure the club can survive a year out of the cl but even two years is pushing it (the contracts signed must have cl clauses in them surely? im thinking chevrolet/nike ones especially). However, the decision to stick with a struggling manager for club fighting to get back on top is a huge huge risk-its not about the contract only but the possibility that top 4 won't happen in 3 years time when the contingency plan is over.

No.5 has come as a bit of a shock to me, I have to say.

Sorry, I thought this article was meant to be about the Glazers financial ownership of MUFC?

And, Point of Order Mr. Speaker… Chevrolet/Nike would just love to get an exclusive sponsorship deal on the same CL level as GAZPROM, wouldn't they? Congrats Mr. Putin. You knobbled UEFA first, Crimea second.

More about how they run bucs and what this may mean for united in the future rather than just pure finances-although that plays a role my article certainly wasn't geared towards that if you bothered to read it fully.

Yea because chevrolet/nike have shown themselves to be companies that just can't wait to do things morally. Companies care about the bottom line and you know it, cl advertising enhances that- Putin can take the whole of Ukraine for all they care.
