Phil Jones

Does anyone think he'll make it to be a top class centre back?

Fergie raves about him and the outlay of cash to get him, for such a young age was huge and suggests he should go on to be top class. He's shown glimpses that he could be very good but more often than not, I feel he has a huge mistake in him. I was left dumbfounded with what he did yesterday, it was utterly ridiculous.

I know he's still young but I genuinely can't see him becoming a centre back of the same ilk as a Ferdinand, a Vidic, a Bruce et al.

I hope I'm wrong but I'm not 100% sure on him.

Frankly I dont understand the animosity from everton fans toward moyes when at the end of the day he left your club infinately better off than when he first arrived.

-------------------------------------------------------------

He was sounded out for the United job in January and yet he continued with the stance that he would be signing a new contract with us at the end of the season.

He then confounded matters by saying in the press that Everton FC should sell Baines and Fellaini to United as they deserve to play for a bigger team than Everton. He then put in a laughable double bid for them.

I will also point out that since he's gone we have all realised how much he hoodwinked everyone with his 'we are fighting above our weight' stance every season.

His negativity stifled our club for his last 3 or 4 seasons and I thank him for his first 6 years at our club, but we are better off without him

Once he learns positioning, and to not be so rash, he will be a top CB. But he needs a consistent run of games there and time to gain experience

You should be nothing but grateful to moyes for what he done for you lot. He was offered one of the biggest jobs in football of course he was going to take it. As for the laughable double bid for baines and fellaini are you having a laugh. That valuation was spot on. What was laughable was the amount forked out in the end for fellaini. As for stifling players coleman and baines didnt look too stifled under him.
As utd fans weve probable cause for being dissappointed and upset with moyes utd career whereas you lot dont. In fact a lot more gratitude is warranted for his job at everton imo.
The fact you are jumping on utd fans legitiamit upset at moyes is somewhat distasteful to be honest

you can argue that palying in different positions has hindered him but it also given him lots of minutes on the pitch to gain vital experience.

Its probably more difficult for a cb to be switched around but loads of players have played out of position early in their carrerrs and gone on to be great players in their best position, cara and henderson are just two examples at lfc that immediatley spring to mind.

These mins on the pitch for jones, despite not being great (think how poor henderson was playing wide right under kenny) could prove huge for jones for his development.

Personally i never saw what the big deal was about him and i dont think hes improved at all since joining united but these past two seasons of game time could just be the making of him.

Hahahaha what planet are you from.

You do realise that we had Moyes at Everton for 11 years and not just the one that you have experienced.

So we should be grateful for his last 3 seasons were we stagnated as a club and team and continually seen his baffling team selections and substitutions.Seeing him play half a team of players out of position to accommodate his favourite players. We should be happy to see his negativity when facing so called bigger clubs.Happy to throw on players with 3 mins to go when chasing a game.Happy to see him make his first substitution in the 65 minute no matter how poorly we were playing up to that point.

I am grateful for his first 6 seasons or so in charge,I'm even more grateful that he's now gone and he's taken the negativity surrounding him and his backroom staff with him.

You lot are well and truly welcome to him and I wish you 11 years of Moyes football for your future

You can't blame Moyes at Everton, if anything blame your unambitious Chairman and club who were happy to be 'punching above their weight' !! He brought several very good players to the club who are now performing very well.

moyes' tenure at everton is overrated, he did a good job but failed every major test he faced and that was down to being far too cautios and afraid to really have a go when it mattered.

The fa cup semi final a few years ago v us is the perfect example, im sure phil will agree that coming into that game everton we the better side and in better form but everton were very negative on the day and showed little guts to really have a go at us, we won fairly comfortably despite the score line, if everton had gone for it that day we were there for the taking as that was a fairly pedestrian liverpool side.

And before i get he finished above you x amount of times thrown at me, yes im fully aware and he deserves credit for that but we were rubbish and if moyes had been braver and a better manager everton could have achieved allot more under him.

I think Martinez has done a excellent job with Everton but I'm interested,as I am with most clubs, how they go about their summer dealings.
