QPR & Leeds

Both clubs owned by contraversial people, but a massive difference in the way the clubs were managed at the top. QPR were a club on the slide, until Bernies boys came in. They however only gave the manager enough cash to get promotion to the Premier League, which took them 3-years. They then decide to sell and make a healthy profit, because thats what good businessmen do. In and out quick and turn a profit. They didn't tell the fans they were in it for the long haul, they just said that the club should be doing better, and we'll ensure they get to where they belong.

8-years on and still counting, but the old get at leeds is still milking the fans, and seems no closer to ever giving us what he promised. Please don't tell me everything is ok because we beat Hull. Yes vast improvement but a long way to go.

I read somewhere that Bates' personal fortune is a lot less than people think.

In comparison to other football owners he is small fry.

It is very unusual nowadays to find individuals willing to invest their own money in football.

Frank, he won't sell until he and his mates have realised as much profit as possible. he doesn't want to spend money on players, or decent contracts, which keeps the wages as a % of turnover, as low as possible. Prem wages/contracts puts a massive hole in that, although getting a big reward in monies from being in the prem helps.

QPR only spent minimal amounts in the period Ecclestone was there, but spent wiseley and it worked. They've made a lot of cash from selling straight away. Leeds is the best profit opportunity in football. A one city club with a massive fan base and following, from a massive catchment area, with a stadium that would fit in anywhere. Bates is obviously happy making a tidy sum now for no investment. Bussinesman he aint, shyster he is.

Rob, Bates has a few million quid mate and he's never paid any tax for the last 30-years. he says a lot of his cash is tied up in property, but apperently he found enough cash to buy the club?

It would be interesting to know how much cash he personally has tied up in the club.

When you buy a club the FA investigate whether you are a fit and proper person and not the source of your money.

Just because Bates owns the club doesn't mean he actually bought it with his own money.

I think he can not/will not invest the dosh to keep us in the prem should we get there.

He would have no option but to sell should a reasonable offer come in otherwise we would be relegated and back to square one.

I think his profit would be maximised should we get promoted.

I hope it happens and he sells up. Im not one of the hardcore anti-bates people but I think he has taken us as far as he can in this modern football business.

Rob without any shadow of a doubt, he already had a big share in the ownership and one day it will come out. When that time comes expect to see him carted off to prison, because he actually defrauded creditors, HMRC and put a nail in the coffin of 3 other bids that would have been better for the club and creditors. Just a matter of someone proving it, because up to now any sane person can see that he did, but can't follow the money, ...... yet.

Frank, I tend to agree, but still can't understand why he never made sure of promotion last season, when we were in pole position. He just watched us implode, meaning another season outside the top table. Then we see no investment in the team, and everyone's shocked, even those who supported Bates, and lets face it, if we'd been beaten by Hull, there would be some serious unrest. It's like he doesn't see a reason to get us out of here.

Getting rid of him is one thing, and there'll be a fireworks display when it happens, but who comes in? Could be worse than Bates you never know, but with the potential of the club, it could really only be a serious investor. We don't want another crook or even a bunch of chicken farmers from Asia, we need a real player.

..........................

I have not studied the clubs accounts like some on here. But if you believe the conspiracy theory that he owns the stadium/training ground, among other things he probably is making a tidy profit out of Leeds in the current situation.

On the balance of it, maybe the investment required to get promotion is not good business sense in his mind. So he would rather chance promotion like last season.

Who knows, he is a complicated man, who some would call a tw @t.

Maybe there is also something in the common theory that promotion last season/this season would mean a big interest pay off to creditors as apart of the coming out of admin/buy back deal.

As for potential new owners. We need someone with a passion for Leeds, to get us back there. To get us back into europe we need an Abramovich

FRank, the creditors would only be due £5m which is peanuts compared to the cash we get for going up.

Doc you've just extolled the virtues of buying LUFC...

doesn't that make Bates a good businessman for
buying them...no one seems to give him credit for this,
why is this...seems a great business opportunity to me
to buy LUFC
