I unfortunately did not watch the game yesterday, but kept up to date on Beeb live text.
There seemed to be a suggestion we were playing 'more of a 4-4-2'? Is there any credence in this, or just people being blind? A discussion of a validity of two up front seems to be more of an issue since Sherwood came in to Spurs and the success of Liverpool, so are people trying to spot that in our set up?
Personally, I think the 4-4-1-1 formation is the best suited for our players currently and historically, despite it not being my preferred formation generally.

No.
Podolski drifted into the middle on several occasions, like for his second goal, but he was very much playing on the left until Giroud was removed. Otherwise it was all the standard formation.

It was more of 4-4-1-1 with Poldi and Giroud taking turns to go out wide.

The guys are right - we did NOT play 4-4-2, Giroud and Podolski rotated - with Ramsey in the team it worked because Ramsey has the engine to provide the support.

why not we play 4-4-2 or 4-2-1-1 when attack, and play 4-2-3-1 when defend? Giroud likes to help out defense and Poldi does not want to defend, easy adaptation right?
