After the stadium plans have came out, and I have to say I love the look, seen a few fans on twitter saying they wish they could get the capacity upto 70-75,000 but obviously it isn't practical unless we move and start afresh.
Question time; would you rather 60,000 at Anfield or 75,000 at a completely new stadium. Whilst the latter is obviously more finically beneficial etc I just couldn't bring myself to see us move anywhere.
What about you lot?
What would you rather..

i do wonder whether it could be developed more further in the future

I've always thought that older grounds where the crowd are right next to the action compared to say the emirates or let's say wembley have far better atmosphere's, but I guess that's the fans as much as anything.

The reason newer grounds have worse atmospheres is largely because they are more expensive, so the working class of fan who is most likely to make the most noise can't afford to get in in enough numbers to generate the atmosphere.
It's very important for the future of Liverpool that the atmosphere is retained. I am sure FSG know that, there will be a price point where it just becomes too much for the noisiest fans to pay.

We are redeveloping the main stand and anfield rd end, nothing to say we can't develop the kop and centenary stand in the future!

the point is not one or other its redevelopment of transport infrastructure to allow 75k. 69k is an improvement

I'm personally more than happy with 60 odd thousand. Old is good.

having seen the pictures, it looks like there's room to develop the annie road end and the kop into 3 tiers like the plans for the main stand.
not sure about the other side, looks like that'll need more house purchases to develop that stand.
obviously doing the kop, and the annie road end again after this redevelopment would be controversial.
but with the main stand going to 21K seats, it does look like there's the potential to take the stadium up to around 80K.
also noticed there's two rows of corporate boxes on the main stand, which'll be good. much as we hate Gillette and hicks, they do know about taking money off people, and they made it clear that the corporate boxes are a lot more profitable per sq. ft. than the general seats.
also I believe these stands are going to include facilities to aid in generating non-match day revenue. likely to be conference/seminar/meeting room functions, probably dual-purposing the corporate boxes.

Look at the Red Sox. One of, if not the smallest baseball stadium in America. Yet they still remain in the top 3 or 4 payrolls in the gane. FSG understand the need for seats, hospitality, sponsorship and fan income. My understanding is that Dortmund have Europes highest average attendance, yet don't generate the income needed to stay up top. Our owners know how to do this, so if its a 50-60k stadium retaining history and atmosphere, then so be it

Said this yesterday..
Take emirates prices and apply them to the Highbury capacity and the difference in income from the two stadiums (in regards to Matchday income) is just 4% of arsenals income with the new TV deals.
Stadiums are not the cash cow they were when united expanded old toilet, their primary function now is supporter noise!! Hospitality is a decent income as is renting the stadiums for other purposes I.e. Gigs, corporate events etc.
Another thing.to take in to account with future expansions will be light, making the kop higher would block the light to the pitch which is not ideal, we need a carpet like pitch with our playstyle, also the kop should always be a single tiered stand, if h and g got one thing right with their stadium plans it was the new kop!!
Either way we may expand again in the future but stadium works are generally just a good reason for ticket price hikes and naming rights, increased capacity may lead to increased stadium sponsorship (hoardings) but ultimately those people not at the stadium would see them on TV anyway!!
In short, the stadium capacity is not a big money spinner, not when tv revenue increases so much year by year, and the prem is still not maximising it's global tv revenues yet either.
Ultimately the stadiums as a whole will become less and.less important. I'd rather not have almost 10 years of pain like arsenal fans for such a paltry increase in turnover!
