So far this season we have netted 51 times in 35 league games.
That equivalent to 1.46 goals per game.
This is the fewest number in the top 7 teams and compares like this:
LFC - 96
City - 91
Chelsea - 67
Arsenal - 62
Everton - 57
Utd - 56
Spurs - 51
Saints - 50
This compares to previous seasons:
12/13 - 66
11/12 - 66
11/10 - 51
10/09 - 67
Our top scores this season:
Adebayor - 10
Eriksen - 7
Soldado - 6
Sigurdson - 5
Pualinho - 5
og - 4
Kane - 3
Previous highest scorers:
12/13 - Bale 21
11/12 - Adebayor - 18
10/11 - VDV - 13
09/10 - Defoe 18
Under AVB we managed just 15 goals from 16 games. Drawing a blank in 6 games.
Timmy has certainly turned this stat around with 36 from 19 games (nearly 2 goals per game), failing to score in 4 of those games.
AVB had a GD of -6 when he departed (F15 A21). 11 of these where from the thrashings by LFC (5) and City (6)
Timothy has a GD of +8 (F36 A28) and that includes 3 thumpings by City (5) Liverpool (4) and Chelsea (4), nearly half of the goals conceded.
If you applied Mr Sherwood's record over the season we would have scored 72 and conceded 56 = GD +16
That would still be the worst defensive performance by us since 2007/8 when under Ramos we shipped 61 goals
If you averaged Sherwood's points per game over a season he would match our best previous total of 72.
These stats all beg the question......
With a better defence, and Tim at the helm, could we go on next season and achieve a much better points total?
With small improvements in attack and big improvements at the back, under TS, could we not look to score 80+ goals and look to get somewhere closer to 80 points.
This season we have suffered with injury to CBs and a lack of a quality LB. Capoue and Sandro have missed a lot of games.
Sherwoods record is comfortably better than Redknapp who even with the likes of Bale, Modric, VDV, Adebayor all firing never managed more than 70 points, or more than 67 goals.
Could Sherwood do a job? he record stands up against ANY previous manager in the last 20 years+

if 30 odd years in football, being at top teams, being a good player, playing under top managers hasnt taught tim you need a balance in your team im sure 3 weeks on a uefa course wont do much either

TIM OUT.

Even when Sherwood played for Blackburn, they had David Batty in midfield and he played a major part in winning the Prem for them.
I would love to know his thought process.

luka, i agree, i would love to know how he stis down and picks a team! even sherwood himself was a tough tackler who snuffed out danager and worked his socks off, makes it all the more baffling

didnt Tim play the holding midfielders in the bigger games though and still got smashed?
He has got capoue and sandro and they have been injured most of the time Tim has been in charge.

There's only one possible reason why Tim would disregard everything he's seen on the football pitch over the years, why he can watch top managers in charge of the best teams in the world and think he knows better..
He's an idiot.

I guess the question is are we getting these results due to Tim or due to the players being good enough to beat the lower teams comfortably regardless of who is selected and the formation we play?
------
The answer is obvious from results and performances against teams that are on our level or better than us.
That's where a manager proves his worth. Klopp winning the Bundesliga for example, Martinez winning the FA Cup..
