De Gea's Legs (U14210)
What's happened at United is shambolic to say the least. This situation should never have happened. It wouldn't have happened at the other elite clubs, it's why I am dumbfounded when I hear our fans want Giggs as manager. It's like we have a small club complex.

Imagine how they would react if Bayern played like us
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Imagine if they had this midfield
Young--Cleverley--Fellaini--Valencia
- They'd be take anti-depressants during the game!

I doubt Jose would have gotten us higher than 4th at best.
With a superior squad at his disposal now they're in real danger of finishing 4th.

Have to disagree with you. Jose would have got us competing. He would not have signed Fellaini and his name alone would have been able to land a CM or 2 and few other players. He would have got this team competing to its full potential as well. He is not my first choice due to his style of play. However, as a winner, there are not many better, if any and that is including Ferguson.

HE didn't look like a winner against Sunderland, Palace or Villa in recent weeks. And this is with a top class, settled defence he wouldn't have had at United this season.
Any manager coming in this season would have had issues with this squad and its problems. Okay, yes, Jose would have finished higher than Moyes but we'd certainly not have competed for the league with a poor defence, no wingers and RvP missing half the season with injury.

In my honest opinion, most of those problems would have been sorted out in the summer. Since 2006 we have finished either 1st or 2nd and we have only lost out on the league by 1 point and on goal difference. Suddenly Ferguson leaves and we drop to 7th after finishing 11 points clear? With Jose, we would have signed a few players, I am certain of it. We would have a better midfield and probably a more settled defense. Would we have won the league? Probably not. would we have been close? Maybe.

LVG is not my first choice to be the next united manager but he is a better option than Giggs. United manager should have a history of winning trophies and should get his teams to play attractive football. Van gaal ticks all those boxes so already a massive upgrade to Moyes.
Giggs is another matter, All united fans would want giggs to have a successful managerial career at united but its a huge risk to appoint him now. The present situation of the club doesnt warrant taking such a risk. Glazers would want to get back to top four, so they will go for the safer option in van gaal.
