Who won really?

I genuinely feel sorry for Chelsea fans! if Liverpool win nothing this season it ultimately makes no difference to my life. I have however had the pleasure of watching many months my team play some beautiful, exciting, attacking football - scoring many goals along the way! if Chelsea win anything this season, ultimately, the fans get nothing except a long season of boring, defensive, dire football! I suppose it really comes down to why you support a team - if you do it to brag to everyone else what YOUR team won, then good luck to you. If on the other hand it is for entertainment every weekend and the chase of maybe winning a trophy, then i know who is the real winners here Good luck to City if they go on and win it - they might have pumped millions into their team, but at least they play the beautiful game!

Thanks goodness that not all Liverpool fans on here are as whiny and bitter as the OP. Chelsea got their game plan spot on and nothing will change that.

Liverpool have had one season (in lord knows how long) of decent attacking football and all of a sudden they think they are the authority on it. Unfortunately that sums up some of their fans' mentality.

They have very short memories too; it wasn't too long ago into the mists of history that Liverpool fans were lauding Benitez for his stout, defensive tactics.

About time I had one of these

'Thanks goodness that not all Liverpool fans on here are as whiny and bitter as the OP. Chelsea got their game plan spot on and nothing will change that.'

Not bitter, maybe a little whiny and I haven't said they didn't get their tactics spot on - they won the gave after all!! The point I am making is that I would rather watch my team play football to win a game, even if that is very defensive football, rather than watch my goalkeeper look longingly at a ball that he may decide to kick at some point after 2 mins of the game! If you are happy with your team doing that, then that is your prerogative! I watch football for entertainment and hopefully to win something, not to win at ANY cost!

'Liverpool have had one season (in lord knows how long) of decent attacking football and all of a sudden they think they are the authority on it. Unfortunately that sums up some of their fans' mentality.'

Not sure how you draw that conclusion about me, but it's not correct. I enjoy watching good quality football - just because liverpool haven't started doing this until recently, doesn't mean I don't know what it looks like - there are other teams you know?!!

'They have very short memories too; it wasn't too long ago into the mists of history that Liverpool fans were lauding Benitez for his stout, defensive tactics.'

Again, you're not listening to what I am saying! I am not criticising the defensive FOOTBALL they played, rather the time wasting CHEATING they did! I like football I don’t like what is called OTT 'Gamesmanship' - and no, not even in my own team!

'Incorrect, the two pundits agreed with me and a few others you disagreed with by saying Jose got his tactics right Unless you think Shearer and Lawro call us up to let people know what he would be saying.'

Of course he got his tactics right - he won the game like to see where I've said he got his tactics wrong?!

I never said you said "he got his tactics wrong"

Not sure what the problem is with you, a team came to Anfield, looked at how they played and made the game compact and slowed play when possible.

Rodgers talks about winning games "in a sporting manner" Well sorry old chap but this is real life now. You have to ask why Rodgers just kept on in the same manner he did all game, very little width from his side in the highlights and no ideas when faced with a well organised defence.

Now where did I say you said jose said that brendan said that I said you said he got his tactics wrong

I've only said it about 20 times but i'll say it again anyway - it was the time wasting from the off that annoyed me!

The way we were set up I think was actually the only way - I think we had to rely on a lot of luck or failing that a pen. When you have a team as defensively good as Chelsea, crosses are not much use - they will mop them up all day long; trying to weave your way into a box with 15 odd people is is also a nightmare; shots from outside the box where an option, but Gerrard, coutinho etc were just not firing well enough yesterday for this to produce a goal.

So in a footballing sense we didn't do enough to win the game and Chelsea did - I hope this clears up some of the bias/bitter etc comments directed at me!

And you defo cant show me where i said that you said that jose said that Brendan said that i said that you said i was wrong!

Played narrow as they did in the two games against Everton.

That may have annoyed you, but they played within the rules and made sure Liverpool didn't get the fast start. If palace do the same as they did to Everton (defended well and attacked on break with pace) then the same could happen again.

I don't think playing narrow would have made a blind bit of difference - we would still have come up against a very packed, highly organised defense.

Time wasting is a yellow card offence and therefore not within the rules.

No, Liverpool played narrow looking at last nights highlights. As they did in the two games against everton

Persistant time wasting is a bookable offence and the ref can add time at his descretion if he feels it is a deliberate ploy.

I still think we tried getting the ball in from wide, but I don't think this is the best tactic against chelsea anyway
