I do feel we could have changed it a little for this game, knowing we only needed a draw.

We weren't over committing ourselves because we new a draw would have been decent. 1 mistake and we got maximum punishment for it.

The only thing I would have liked us to try in the final 5 (plus added time) was to throw Skrtel up front so at least we might at least look threatening with crosses. Would have been a better move than Aspas.

I don't think we were particularly gung-ho in the first half.

They scored because Gerrard slipped, not because of any system we were playing. After that, we had no choice but to chase the game.

No problem with away teams parking the bus...it's a compliment to us that a club with Chelsea's resources felt the need to do it, and none of us minded Sunderland doing it at Stamford Bridge.

Yeah...I thought about Skrtel being thrown up there. I still feel we needed a big striker, for that option. Carroll would have been perfect but you can't have a £35m striker on the bench....

I agree. We played our normal game and Chelsea played their normal game, which is likely to work out better for Chelsea than us.

Not necessarily. Up to the Gerrard slip we were completely comfortable except for a few Rory Delap style throwings and a couple of corners.

A lot of pundits are saying we should have changed the way we played but why. We were in complete control in the first half, and one massive mistake is what gave them the advantage. In the second half we had to push on and that left spaces at the back, which Chelsea took advantage of very late on.

It's difficult enough playing against the likes of West ham, or Stoke when they out 10 men behind the ball. When you have a team with the best defence already in the league putting 10 men behind the ball, even the best teams in Europe are going to find it difficult to score a goal.

Exactly TOOR when you have someone with the quality of Gerrard and the likes of Johnson and Sterling then sometimes you need a big man up front. I don't think we will go that route with a striker but surly Skrtel should have been an option.

We ran out of ideas the way the bus defended. You can change the formation etc etc but when you have a back 6 and 3 DMs of that quality its not easy to breakthrough with forward he can't compete in the air.

We were the team that needed a draw, they needed a win. Chelsea are excellent at closing teams out. We needed to bring them out and sitting back further and countering would have been perfect for that considering we only needed a draw. A disaster would have been Chelsea scoring first and that's exactly what happened.

I'm not saying we played the wrong way, in a one off game, just that in a game when we needed to draw, we should have been forcing Chelsea to attack, not the other way around.

Sometimes you need a different option and we didn't have that.

Rogers showing first sign of inexperience at this level, naive, perhaps over confidence or even arrogance.

I hope we've a learnt lesson because palace under pulis will have 8 combine harvesters lined up for the mighty reds
