well looks like this summer we`ll be busy in the transfer window, and the midfield as an area where we should top up with some good players, which means bad news for Carrick,Fletcher, and Valencia these guys wont get much playing time in the middle so i think they`ll be much useful at the back,Antonio has played at right back a few times and done ok,also Carrick has played in defence,we dont need to go all out and spend on defenders, these guys can help out in there so we can concentrate in other areas, would this be a good idea??????????

No no no no no no no no no no. NO !!!
Defenders should play in defence. And Midfielders should play in midfield. Only in extreme circumstances should that be any different.

Square pegs in square holes please! If the above named players aren't good enough in the eyes of the new manager in their own positions they should not play in others. This is a time IMO to be ruthless. Carrick I feel could still do a good job in a LVG side from what I have read and I hope he can also rejuvinate Valencia. Sadly though, and I am really glad he came back, Fletcher IMO does not have what it takes to play for United any more. I would love for him to get a big move to Celtic to finish his career as I feel he'd do well there.

absolutley not.
We need a first choice partner for smalling.
Jones isnt good enough and to me doesnt even look like a competent defedner in the centre, way too many mistakes in him and evans is niothing more but a solid back up.
Apparently looking at hummells, would be chuffed with that.
Its of upmost importance to have a great defence.

We need to look at offloading Jones if we are going to sign a defender as I sadly do not believe he should start ahead of Smalling or Evans

Carrick at CB would work but only if we have a high possession game. he would be very good playing the ball from the back a la Pique.
But no for the other two. Valencia is awful at RB, we have conceded from his faults every time he has played there this season.

Ideally we'd keep Vida, play him alongside Smalling as our main partnership and have Jones and Evans on the bench. Jones would play instead of Vida and Evans Smalling. Ferdinand toplayhis last season as a backup and be a main player in the league cup. Evra I'd replace. As it is, I'd like us to do something akin to when we let Stam go and got Blanc in for a season with Vidic. He's going and as much as I'd love for Smalling and Jones to be thrown into the deep end and make it work, without a cool older head around as well as the now past it Rio, I think over a while season they'd struggle. Evans can play with either of them already so I'd be happy enough for first choice to be Smalling and Jones with (Blanc type) and Evans on the subs bench. The key issues for me are the right wing, and replacing Fellaini. Reus would be great, but I'd like someone more physically formidable to attack the back post from deliveries from my new left back, Baines/Coentrao/Shaw/whoever that may be. In short I want the next Cristiano, so not much to ask. I'd have Kagawa or Januzaj play from the left and be given licence to join the midfield and link in as a false winger at times, but I'd expect them to read the game and stretch the opposition out when needed. I'd have a centre-forward who drifts to the left and use Rooney as a central figure to the movement and have him be agressive in his attempts to get into the box from the hole. And I'd play Cleverley and Carrick/new CM in the middle.
I suppose the line up, using traditional numbers as positions would be something like
1
2-5-6-3
8-4
7-10-11
9
drifting into this below when we're in possession,
1
2-5-6-3
8-4-11
7-10-9
