So chaps, with one round of matches to go Brum are bang up against it. Two home wins all season is truly appalling! I believe there will be one final twist.... Birmingham have been decent away and could get something at Bolton. ... For me its bye bye to Doncaster who should get a walloping from the Champs. I certainly wouldn't miss them or their manager. Good luck Mr Clark.

Nah, most bluenoses realize the writing is on the wall and are getting ready for life in Lge One
As chuffed as you lot may be, it has a knock on effect with other W'Mids teams as the area becomes perceived as a football dead-end/non-entity and ultimately this impacts on the quality of perspective buyers and the prices clubs go for and the players who are willing to come in [for the right reasons rather than just for the right wage].
Accordingly, indirectly you are affected, in a negative way, by our fall from grace.
But I'm sure you'll enjoy it nonetheless!

I really couldn't disagree more.
There's an old saying that 'in order for you to succeed, others need to fail".
If Vile, Vulvahamptom and Blouse are all out of the top flight then it will only benefit the Albion.
Imagine if you're a young local player choosing which Academy to go to. There'll only be one option. And if you're a potential sponsor, which club will give you global exposure?
Here comes the wizard!

Imagine a street with line of houses in varying states of disrepair.
However one is a 'stand out' amongst them.
Do you really think that this house will command a decent price despite the ones around it being 'shoddy'?
And do you think that this price would only be similar or equal to what it would fetch if all the houses were in good repair?
Simple economics would say that the worth of that house is considerably less than it could be because of the surrounding ones.
Even worse for that particular house, ones adjacent [even those in a poor state of repair] could even be viewed as a better option/with more potential to buy/invest in.
The next lecture will be on hummingbirds wing oscillations and the impact this has on tree farming...

Bloody estate agents eh.
What about a lecture on the difference between the African or European Swallow.

Killpage what you have said would be true IF football clubs were houses but they aren't, they're businesses and in business do you invest in the failing company? Not really, do you invest in the one with a mountain of debt or the self efficient one?
In a football business sense there is nothing that could brought morrow beneficial than your local rivals failing. You become more likely to grab the younger generations fans and turn them towards your club. You get the local talent turning there attention towards your clubs academy simply because you have finished in a stronger position. You get more exposure in the press for being number 1 in your area.
Did woolworths manage to tempt investors? Of course not because they were an outdated failing company and the smart money for they field of retail was to invest in say WH Smith or say Home Bargains.
Non the less the football fan in me wants every midlands club to succeed because quite frankly no match beats a local derby.

I hear what you are saying Woys but we are talking about a closed shop here with a captive audience.
Being the best of a bad bunch cant be better than being the worst of a good one.

I guarantee that if there were more Premiership clubs in Newcastle then Newcastle Utd would get less revenue. However, because teams like Heaton Stannington FC are failing, all the attention, all the fans, all the sponsorship and all the potential is focussed on NUFC!

By the way. If Vile and Blouse lose on Saturday then then the wizard may be making a few more appearances!

Is the FL & FA a closed shop for managers or what?
Leek Lark whose team lie 2nd last in the league, takes the reigns at Blackpool; bottom of the league.
Although he cannot be blamed for our recent 0-8 defeat by B'mouth, he had seemingly lost his way after a fairly 'bright' start [at least by our recent standards].
I know the H'field lot were up and down about him, and at B'ham we will be mostly down about him, but in some respects I pity the B'pool fans at the moment because it is seemingly an uninspired appointment.
I do wish LC the best of luck at his new job, but am not sorry to see him go, even if things possibly get worse at Stans.
For any aspiring managers who have, or want to have a new take on things though, it is a bit disappointing for them and hardly inspires new, radical thinkers to come through the game into management.
Jobs for the boys?
