A good few weeks ago I posted an article on this very board about Arsenal being linked with Josip Drmić, the Swiss International striker who is currently having a very impressive season in the Bundesliga with FC Nürnberg.
German oracle Lothar Matthäus was the catalyst for the story, speaking matter-of-factly that the young Swiss goal getter had already agreed a move (along with his club side) to the Premier League this summer, specifically to Arsenal.
I've kept a closer eye than usual on the Bundesliga this season & really enjoyed watching a lot of the teams and some players, not specifically the obvious 'names' really capture the imagination.
21 year old Drmić has been having a very good season, he has a cool head on his 21 year-old shoulders and most importantly (for a striker) he's not shy about finding the back of the net.
Soon after Drmić's named was linked with a move away from the Bundesliga there was inevitable speculation, people agreeing/denying the move as is the way of the World.
As well as Arsenal, Drmić has been linked to both Liverpool and Everton. I'm posting this as Matthäus who leaked the alleged 'move' initially was questioned yesterday on Drmić and said once again that 'he's going to Arsenal, it's been agreed for some time'.
Anyone else been watching this boy. I'm not banging the drum for him to shoot his chufter to the Emirates per-say, but I'll just reaffirm that what I've seen of him this season, which has been quite a bit, has really impressed me.

Drmić to Arsenal (according to Matthäus)

Looks a good prospect and for the reported £10-15m price range could represent a good investment.

I'm sure they'll train that out of him quick enough.

We're probably going to need to sign 2 strikers this summer, both won't be big names. Not sure I'm too worried if either are.

In all honesty, IF he were to move to Arsenal, I'd expect to see a fair bit of him. Not saying I'd expect him to be a nailed-on 'starter', but he's been very impressive in the Bundesliga this campaign and bagged a fair few goals for a team that (to be polite) isn't particularly great.
Him being a 'reserve' or a guy who is merely a fringe-player at best? I doubt he'd go for that.
But in my moist and humble opinion, at Prem level, I could see him being pretty useful.

Would prefer Draxler or Griezmann to him, or as suggested in previous threads, Campbell deserves at least a run of games at least in the preseason.

Hi Moisty,
There is too much risk involved, another young player from a different league is not what we want. We need a top class proven striker with pace, otherwise someone from the premier league. Every year we have yet another signing like this who doesn't really help in the cup hunt!

Agreed. Although at the risk of sounding like a loss-adjuster, there's always an element of risk with ANY transfer.
He might turn out to be a flash in the pan, or he could end up as being one of those players we bemoan 'why the HELL didn't we go for him'!? when we had the chance.
Griezmann I'd take gladly, Draxler ditto... Both inevitably would cost a lot of money.
I've said so many times on here that ideally Arsenal NEED a striker who has a bit of everything, but notably pace (as well as a proven record in the art of scoring goals). Players like that are few & far between. Off the top of my head I am struggling to think of anyone who the club have a realistic chance of getting. At a massive push maybe Benzema? But there are so many variables to there be even a chance of that deal baring fruit.

Considering lots of teams will be looking for the type of striker we are looking for, proven quality and good record in a top league, can play the lone striker role, has a bit of pace at least etc... i think our best bet is finding a proven striker who has specific motive to come to Arsenal or someone with raw quality who AW can turn into a top class striker like he has done with many before
Arsenal are in health financial situation and can compete with the rich teams but it doeant make sense to enter into a bidding war with the likes of Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Barca
