Its not just about needing strikers - even though we do need a complete overhaul in that area.

What we also need is a better central midfield. Signing Matic was just the start but we need more. Mikel needs to be sold this summer and I'd be tempted to add Ramires to that list.

We also need a good left back that can get forward and support attacks - so important in the modern game. This would allow Azpi to play at his preferred right back where he is much more effective.

We were very bad by our standards yesterday. Everyone from Jose down failed to perform at the level we are accustom to.

Yes we missed Lampard's cool head in midfield, Luiz was on a one man mission to be MOTM for Athletico passed more to their players than our own. Jose set up wrong, wish we went proper 4-3-3 at the start and win the game. Also it was wrong to drop our most in form striker Ba aswell. Plus why play Hazard he hasnt trained properly this month and has no match fitness.

Saying all that the whole game was decided when Eto jumped in for no reason. After that Atletico were more than good enough to hold us at bay.

Put Costa in our team.
Would we have played any different last night with Costa in the team?
Would Ramires have learnt how to control the ball with Costa in the team? Would he have learnt how to take the ball forward properly without losing it just because Costa is in front of him?
Would Willian/Oscar start taking shots on goal with Costa in the team?
Would we start running in behind defenders with Costa in the team?
Would we quicken our passes up just because we have Costa in the team?
Would our fullbacks start venturing forward just because they see Costa upfront rather than Torres/Eto/Ba?
Would our attackers (Shirley Oscar Hazard Willian Ramires) know how to pass the ball around a packed defence just because Costa is there?
This all needs to come from Mourinho Im afraid.
Next season he needs to work on the above because I believe we have got a very good team but its being restricted. Quite a lot. . ..

Agreed that we need more than just a new striker. Central midfield is key. We need a midfield general.

Guv yeah we need a very good central midfield partner for Matic as well as better squad options in central midfield.

Neither Mikel or Ramires really cut the mustard in my opinion even as just squad players and we would be wise to cash in on them this summer and rebuild central midfield.
