Money ruined football..

I have said it numerous times before, money has destroyed football. Fifa's financial fair play does not seem to be working, the big clubs will find a way to supplement their "revenue" and thus widening the gap between the others. Even as a Celtic fan I feel we, although not being in the same league as a PSG et al have a huge advantage over every other club in the SPL.

Wages are ridiculous! They should definitely be capped, I know sponsorship deals etc. would still bump salaries higher, but seriously having an unregulated system such as the status quo I find sickening. Players earning 300k a week for playing a sport when people in the same countries are on the breadline is a joke. Some pros earn more in a week than heart surgeons do in a year after god knows how many years studying/training, that is just wrong. Honestly €20k a week is more than enough for anyone! A cap would allow teams to compete with each other.

The transfer system is farcical also. Clubs simply outbidding one another, and even buying players just so rivals do not sign them (Willian for instance). Why not limit the number of transfers an individual club can make per season/window. If a club could only sign 3 players a year, it would force them into nurturing youth players rather than simply buying ready made replacements if a player is sold or retires. Also any player with more than 18 months remaining on their contract should not be subject to bids, unless the parent club states the player is for sale.

How can you say the "English" football is the best in the world (big fan of the EPL by the way), when most of the top teams name few if any English players on a Saturday? This clearly has a negative effect on English talent too. Football is a sport, every team should have the ability to challenge for the title, or at least the means to strive towards it. Football clubs are more like huge multinational companies now that poach talent from others. Look at Southampton, they have done fantastically well rising up through the divisions all the while keeping the core of their team intact whilst they progressed, that is the essence of football for me! They should have a fantastic platform to build upon for next season, yet they will be pillaged by the big clubs for their star players, and possibly manager too.

The only way this will stop is through us the fans/consumer. I am not sure how though, widespread boycott of the 200 (hyperbole) channels needed just to watch all the games would be a start!

Anyway that's my rant over.... back to studying

Me n'all mate, I still pay to watch. It's shít but its the world we live in.. Just makes it that little bit more special when one team bucks the trend.

If all else fails we should all start watching illegal streams and avoid matches but that ain't gonna happen. It's a fact of life that everyone is out to make money, and if you have a stick on thing such as a football club where gullible idiots like ourselves (and Gers fans ) will loyally pay money without questions then you can't blame them for fleecing us.

Football ruined football. It's popularity and influence was always going to attract those who hoped to piggy back through purchases.

Don't necessarily mean we copy the draft but maybe something drastic that spreads the wealth around. Why not give all teams equal tv money and gate receipts?

Money has maybe ruined certain aspects of football but it hasn't ruined football...

How can you say football has been ruined when it is being played now, better, faster and more skilfully than ever before?

There is a song from many years gone by...."Money is the root of all evil"......

Never have truer words ever been written or uttered!

I wouldn't say money is evil.. It's human nature and greed that is evil.
