Sagna?

I feel strange about the possibility of Sagna leaving. It feels like the end of an era? Even though he hasn't been a part of a particularly memorable time for Arsenal in terms of honours, which is a shame because I believe he has been a consistently great player and was certainly the best right back in the league for a long period and deserves to have won a few trophies in his time with us.

When he first signed I remember I was in Spain and managed to catch a pre season friendly in a local pub and saw him playing on the right. I was completely perplexed as to why we had signed him as I believed Eboue was on his way to being a top right back seeing as he was so young yet so vital in our run to the champions league final the season before. How wrong I was as Eboue faded away and Sagna established himself as one of our best and most consistent performers.

I will certainly miss him if he leaves, he was so good at his job you almost didn't notice him at all. Just expected us to be fine down the right, and to be fair we usually were.

Really hope he doesn't leave and if he does then he goes abroad as he's been a great servant for us and seemed to genuinely enjoy being at the club. Couldn't bare to see him in a city kit (or his wife for that matter) especially as he will likely be second fiddle to zabaletta.

Whatever he decides I will wish him the best. Hopefully he stays but I'm very much doubtful of that due to the fact he's not signed a contract and the circumstances yesterday . Nice touch to hear the fans chanting for him though.

Even if he goes to city, I would still love him.

It feels like the end of an era?
---------------------------------------------

An end of an era in which we have won NOTHING.

Sentiment aside, I think we need to close the door on that era as quick as possible, an era I associate with the likes of Sagna, Diaby, Rosicky and Bendtner in our current squad. All of them stick in my mind as part of the bad times but strangely Theo doesnt come into that as he is more exciting and provided some of our better moments and mostothers are too young.

To be fair that is not Sagna's fault at all. He could have walked into any team in the world bar Bayern, Barcelona and possibly Inter when Maicon was there. Yet he stayed loyal to us, despite seeing players like RVP, cesc, Nasri leave he stayed and have his all for us. Pointing the finger at players like Bendtner is fair enough but the fact we have gone trophyless for so long is more about players like Almunia/Eboue/Chamakh etc.

lol Walcott has been one of the biggest bottlers of the last 9 years. Sagna has always been a top performer for Arsenal - last season aside, he has been brilliant for us. The club should be doing everything they can to keep him and let him retire at Arsenal.
