The FA commission is going ahead to the next stage with the B team idea.
A new 'League 3' is set to be introduced for B teams.
There will be promotion and relegation from League 3.
Initially it will be made up of twenty teams, 10 'B' teams and the top 10 from the conference.
10 further 'B' teams will go into the Conference.
No promotion to Championship will be possible, or participation in the cups.
Squads will have to have 20 HG players, with no more than 3 over 21s in a match day squad.
Strategic loan partnerships can be established, where clubs can link with lower league clubs to develop players.
This is set to go ahead for the 2016/17 season.
B team league going forward...

Spot on Crouch End.
Using Spain as a comparison they have a population of 47m whereas ours is 63m.
Spain has 33,000 registered active qualified football coaches compared to our 3,000.
There is no pre-requisite to have ANY qualifications in the UK unless the club you coach at is affiliated to a local FA or is a charter standard club. Most are not. A fundamental look at grass roots coaching is needed with proper investment being made. First thing I would do is look at the regional FA's each of whom are set up for the benefit of employees. The amount of money they 'eat' up before grass roots see a penny would make your eyes water.

I actually planned to do coaching badges a few years back, but they were prohibitive really..
The fees were high, especially considering.the first couple of levels will only net you voluntary jobs, the times were not very helpful and there was limited availability. I wasn't even interested in it as a career, we just wanted to do it to improve our Sunday league training and i intended to volunteer at my nephews school to help with their football (the only person running.it happens to be a friends mum in her mid 50's) training/team because it's at risk of being cancelled.
A few of my friends did do it, one who was a talented footballer but without the real drive or health levels (he has stress induced epilepsy) needed to excel did the first couple of levels, then looked for jobs, basically local clubs hire mostly free work (which he did) because clubs can't afford nor do they want the coaches.
The problem is not necessarily public willing but lack of interest on the parts of semi pro and lower pro clubs who can't afford.to hire coaches, even on the cheap. My friend was doing a 60milr round trip two nights a week to help coach a.conference south club, for free, after a few months he asked if they would fund his travel costs (fuel) they said no and binned him off a few weeks.later because they found a closer volunteer, he has tried more local clubs but they too are stacked with "trainee coaches"
The fact he can't get a job kind precludes him from going on to do the more expensive qualifications.
More funding for the league clubs might allow them to hire more coaches. That would help get more qualified coaches in this country, people are willing they just don't get a chance to make a career from it.
Also the football/premier league should be funding a qualified coach to help train kids once per week at primary / secondary schools. Especially secondaries the P.E teachers should be having the qualification funded by the fa.

two mates of mine did badges, one gave up on trying to coach after finding it near impossible to even get voluntary work without spending thousands more
the other moved to america and now gets paid to coach... lucky b*stard

I'm an L2 Insert. My club, an FA charter standard club paid the L1 (which is a joke by the way, turn up and you get it and I'm told has 100% pass rate) but you are right the L2 upwards starts to formalise and make it worthwhile. I had to pay for that myself. Luckily I wasn't looking to make it an earner I just wanted to be able to do my best for the boys I was coaching. I finally gave up because I was sick of the mentality of parents and a little cheesed off with the 'boys club' that are the regional FA's

Old mate of mine is a paid coach in Japan, of all places. Weird.

The attitude in this country towards coaches is just as bad as the coaching.
It's deemed an unnecessary expense for many clubs. With little stability in the job. Funded coaches in primaries would go a massive way towards improving football in this country and also making.it more fun so kids want to do it more.

Amazing that we can sort this out on 606 while it will take the FA years and still mess it up.

I'm still well in favour of the b teams though, I now wonder if there's any way of ring fencing increased expenditure for coaching.infrastructure, i.e
Additional coaches and higher qualifications for existing coaches..
I also wonder if a mechanism could be introduced to reward clubs with the best qualified coaches? That would see the dinosaurs out of the game who don't want to change their ways and evolve with the game, and open up more jobs for progressive hungry modern coaches.
