That seems to be the news on twitter anyway.
Sad for him if it's true as he does seem a genuinely proud Englishman but being honest he does not deserve to go. He hasn't been good enough this season and his fitness is becoming a genuine concern.
I think Roy is doing him a massive favor by giving him the Summer off. He will come back better and stronger like Theo did and hopefully will get his chance in 4 years time.
Now with that out of the way, I just realised, we are not going to have that many players in the world cup, are we?
We will have the 3 Germans, Cazorla (and maybe Nacho), Ox, Giroud, Kos, Sagna (prob a City player by then) and Vermealen there. Usually it feels like a lot more than that. Anyway, the point being a lot of our squad will have the Summer off which bodes well for next season.
Wilshere left out of WC squad

Ashley Cole @TheRealAC3 2m
I got the call from Roy and agree England team should be about the young players. I think it best I retire from England team now. π’π’
Ashley Cole @TheRealAC3 1m
We have a great manager and team and I wish them only success. I will be supporting them like a true fan. Thanks to everyone for everything

Cole is still the best LB England have. Baines is not very good in defensive situations and lets.face it England will be defending alot.
What is the point of taking Shaw? Is Baines gets injured on the 1st game we have to rely on a rookie.
Oh amf Jack shouldn't be going to the world.cup. Been mediocre this season Imo.

Wilshere has done absolutely nothing to deserve a place in the WC squad. And for the player, and his club, it's probably best that he has the summer off. Clear up that niggling injury for good.
Not really surprised that Cole isn't going. He's hardly had a game for Chelsea, although i do agree with most posters in that he is a stil a lot better than Shaw, who is vastly overrated.

Prefer that him, Theo and Gibbs arent going
England's loss is Arsenal's benefit

What do you really expect from England in the world cup with Our present manager? Has shown his limitations by not picking ,on his day,the best LB for England in the Prem. Will be pleased if no Arsenal player goes as absolutely nothing to gain by going to Brazil. Too hot and we are not good enough.

Likewise.
Theo won't be fit anyway.
Jack is omitted on merit and rest would do him more good than callup.
Not overly bothered if Gibbs goes or not.

I am a bit worried about Oxlade going. Simply because, like Wilshere, i do believe he has some underlaying injury problem that could have done with a good, long rest. He's had an on-off season, and the rigours of a South American World Cup won't do his injury any favours.
