Kieran Gibbs Bandwagon

I know there was an article on this yesterday, but just wanted to throw my hat in for support behind Kieran...

I think the guy is great, and is in the top 3 left backs out there. Yep, Shaw attacks better than Kieran, but defensively the guy does not offer as much. Also, Kieran is the better athlete. Bearing in mind this is ENGLAND, who are likely to be on the counter a lot this world cup, in difficult conditions, surely Gibbo would be the best choice?

Tbh, I would have picked Leighton and Ashley. If by some miracle England got to the quarters or so, I think the experience of Cole would come in handy. And despite being hated by us Gooners, the guy is really, really good and has been for over a decade.

Many will raise their eyebrows at this, but Kieran Gibbs was my player of the season for 2012/13. For me he had only 1 bad game (Newcastle at home), and this season he has been pretty much as solid. I don't remember Kieran making defensive errors. His biggest error was looking like Oxlade-Chamberlain apparently.

For me, the three best English left backs in the league are Baines, Cole and Gibbs. Shaw is very good, but still young and got a lot to learn. Flanagan is not a left back and even playing at right back, is not a patch on Kieran.

GIBBO

Gibbs is an injured mess. Forget about England, even his long-term Arsenal career is under threat if he continues this spell of injury lay-offs.

Forget which game it was recently, but he came on late for Monreal and we were a different team going forward. Against those that sit deep he is one of our main threats. Thats why I think Bac leaving is overestimated, he never had that capability, although being solid as a brick.

Gibbs is a better athlete than Shaw? Christ almighty, he's never fit.

Gibbs is defiantly better than Shaw, who is getting really overrated, shown by the fact that people who have only ever seen him on motd were putting him on there team of the season.

Gibbs hasnt necessarily had a better season because of his injuries. Anyway I'm not too disappointed with him not going to the WC cause he can be fresh for next season.

Cole should go over Shaw though.

Luke Shaw is massively overrated. However, Gibbs is probably as overrated by us Gooners. He's got everything you need to become a top class LB, except the fitness. Im afraid that's all that counts. You can't really on a player who injured consistenly for a third of the season.
