As we head to zero hour for our season, and indeed our DECADE if the last nine trophy-ridden years are anything to go by, and hoping our players are finally heading for some glory and silverware, let's have a brief look at ex-Gunners who've done themselves proud this season -
Marouane Chamakh - After such a promising start for us, Chamakh faded away and was reduced to a bit-part player. At Palace under Pulis, he has happily been given a new lease of life and is an integral part of the Eagles machine that has not only survived but thrived and impressed this season.
Samir Nasri and Gael Clichy - Once again City have taken the league by storm and although perhaps not the obvious powerhouses they were, Nasri with his skill and trickery and Clichy with his poise and speed have once again contributed to a title win. Both players are also young enough to do likewise next season, and with City facing Champions league punishments, experienced players like these two will be needed more than ever.
Vito Mannone - Sunderland have enacted one of the all time greats of great escapes, and right at the heart of it is Vito Mannone. A onetime hero and oft-time pariah in an Arsenal shirt, Mannone's outstanding performances have undoubtedly helped the Black Cats to achieve safety. His sole blip - the equaliser against City - didn't cost them and made many feel bad for him. Any progress by Sunderland next season may well have a lot to do with Don Vito.
Kolo Toure - Almost won the league with Liverpool. Alas.
I'm happy for those who've left and gone on to achieve and contribute to causes, but I'll be happier if we can achieve the ultimate result today and break our self-inflicted curse of almost a decade. We can do it.
