"The future's not set. There's no fate but what we make for ourselves." - John Connor, Terminator 2: Judgement Day.
This happens to be not only my favourite film, but one of my favourite lines from any film.
We have made for ourselves nine years of mediocrity and discontent. Year on year the club has promised much and delivered little and the feeling the next season - optimism that dies away and deja vu that creeps in - is always the same.
This is the best chance we will get to break the cycle. Just one game won now will forever change the equation - but lose it, and things become worse than ever. Think England in a penalty shootout, or Liverpool chasing a league title.
We shape our own fate. Our club's name is not etched on the trophy yet - one game, which has not been written and can be shaped as it goes along, will decide if that will happen.
You shape tomorrow using today as a tool, so today, Arsenal, be precise, reliable and uncompromising, like a scalpel of the finest steel.
One game. One day. Potentially, just one goal.
Do it right. Do it now.
There's no fate but what we make for ourselves.
