JENNINGS Replaces injured David Wallace...

Great News in my opinion. Jennings is the only true number 7 we have. A genuine fetcher in the mould of MaCaw.
Wally is injured and we know he's quality but im delighted to see Jennings get a chance. He had a massive impact in the Heineken Cup final when he came on and all during the season with leinster he was excellent. Don't know why DK over looks him so much but word on the mount is they have had some differences of opinion...

I don't know man,Wallace is some athlete i think they missed him today with his physical skill around the fringes.

But France did look good and most teams would have struggled with them today,
Ireland just looked rusty to me lots of chances were created but not finished,
i personally think England will be dreading the visit to Dublin next week, the Irish will have a big point to prove.

We were indeed rusty but its no excuse. for the first 20 we dominated. one handling error in that 20 and 65% possession. we were on fire 8-0 up after 9 mins. Then we shut down. its a strange thing to see form an irish side. We normally start slow and build, claw our way in to the game.

It has literally scared me. im seeing 2007 all over again. i can't believe that we can so well for 20 mins and dominate a really good side only to go to sleep. Just not like us.

And that little 'spat' between Earls and Sexton was bloody ridiculous! That just Peee'd me off massively. Fair enough Earls was silly to put himself in that position but FFS Jonny sexton should be a professional and not give his team mate that kind of attitude on the bloddy TV. Sexton is the man of the moment in ireland but i hate that kind of rubbish. he can be a proper little pup.

Personaly, i think Rog is the better looking option at the moment. He's done nothing wrong when he's played.

I wouldn't go that far charlie. sexton is alot better then ROG in way more areas. ROG can do a job in the right game against the right opposition. but jonny can do more jobs and with real skill. scores trys too. slotted in to 12 this weekend. Defends well. No mate. i dont like his attitude sometimes but that said ROG has been found wanting in that department more then once himself.

Must be a fly half thing, you know throwing hissy fits from time to time

Curious if you still feel this way now Ding... (referring to the original article of course).

Very sorry now for Wally who is badly injured and out of the WC Jennings will replace him now which will see an all leinster back row if ferris is not playing. This must put DK in a bit of a quandary because Sean O'Brian can play 7 but is anonymous in that position as you know 7 is all about hitting the rucks and pinching ball etc etc Ferris plays 6 and thats also 0'brians best position so i really hope DK does not sacrifice all that O'brian brings in the 6 position while trying to accommodate ferris. O'brian needs to play 6 only and with 8 locked out by Heaslip it really only leaves 7 for Jennings as he is our only true 7. Wallace is not a real 7 in the mould of MaCaw but Wally will be missed because he brings so much pace power and an all round game. Where Jennings is a specialist 7 and will win turnovers. For leinster he is great but he has not managed to bring that to ireland yet. perhaps its the difference in game plan does not suit him

Fingers crossed.

Weren't some people suggesting Ferris plays 7 a couple years back? He strikes me as more suited than O'Brien.

I've rated Wallace alot. He's not your traditional ball snaffler/nuisance maker, but he is also freakishly fit, quick and strong, which is quite handy to have in the backrow.

Last year their was heated debate on the old 606 about how to accommodate both O'Brian and Ferris. As two outstanding 6's the debate sort of raged between Ulster fans and leinster fans with no real conclusion save that both are great at 6 and anonymous at 7.

I have to admit im a bit of a traditionalist and want us to have a real 7 at 7. But like i said Jennings has not managed to repeat his form in a blue jersey while playing in a green jersey. To be honest Losing wally has really given DK a problem here. Ferris suring the GS year was outstanding at 6 and was being touted as one of the best 6's around. Now O'Brian has burst on to the scene and it would be hard even for the most avid ulster fan to deny that he is better.

All that said i will throw this little shake up in to the mix. Ireland had this player managment scheme going on last year which ment the top line players were limited in the amount of games they could play. something like 50% so we saw Fergus McFadden replacing BOD at 13 for many many magners league game and the important one. We saw Sean O'Brian replace Jamie Heaslip at 8! we saw that alot during the season so much that O'Brian has become rather good from the 8 position and a certain amount of people believe his best position is indeed 8. So could it be possible to play Heaslip at 7, Ferris at 6 and SOB at 8!

I know heaslip can play 7 and is always pinching ball from the 8 position anyway...

It really difficult to know what way to do it but i guess that your suggestion is what DK will go with. Ferris at 7.

Only one thing is certain at this stage. If we are going to have any amount of success in the competition, our back row and their form will decide how much success. It possibly the only area of the pitch where we can match the other teams.
