He's a good manager but he's going to have to be, UTD are in need of a total overhaul!

Despite the rivalry and occasional hostility between our clubs and fans, there is an element of respect between the two most decorated clubs in England. So for that reason I hope you do ok next season. Not as well as us, but I'd rather you lot in the top 4 to Arsenal. The Arsenal fans have shown in recent days that they are even worse winners than they are losers, and they were pretty unbearable losers, so I hope they're the ones you knock out of the top 4.

We won the FA cup against very poor Hull side = arsenal are the best team in the world ever, ever, ever and could beat anyone!

Interesting times for Utd.
I am not worried for us, we have a strong team, a strong plan, and crucially, belief and unity.
If Van Gaal does a good job and gets Utd back in the top 4 in one season then well done him, I am confident it won't be us who miss out if he does.

Why would you be shaking in your boots?

and we've seen how difficult it is to bring new players into a defence and get them all playing well together, and that's while keeping players with plenty of experience playing together.
man u are losing pretty much all their experience in defence, and we've all seen how a bad defence can ruin your season.
de gea's improved a lot from how he started with you, but put an untried and inexperienced back 4 there and his performances might just revert to those of his debut season.
also it appears, according to the press, both rooney and rvp have been promised the captaincy, so one of them won't be happy. and, again, if you believe the press, rooney was begging the club not to appoint LVG.
also, from 2015/16 season, the money for CL clubs increase significantly, so if you don't get straight back in, expect it to get even harder to break back into the top 4.

LVG doesn't even have that great a reputation.(his two stints in the Dutch league aside)
He took over a successful talented barca squad, got three trophies in three seasons, upset players and.media and got hounded out,
Then the Netherlands team where he failed.to.get the to qualify for a.major tournament for the.only.time since 86, he got sacked, fell out with players and media.
Back to barca, sacked 3 points above relegation zone claiming the players were not good enough.
Then he had to go to an alkmaar to rebuild his career, where he fell out with the players and threatened tp quit.because they were not trying hard enough.
Then bayern, where he repeated a league and cup double that had been achieved the season before, alienated their top.striker to the point he left, fell out.with players and media when he said players were taking too long tp adapt to his.playstyle. Sacked the following season after spending money to.finish potless and in 3rd.
Then back to Holland whom he has guided to the world cup..
In my opinion he's not the right man for the job, he argues with players everywhere, not.good in a team who's identity has been crushed, and the heart ripped.out (defence)
Four.of the five best outfield players left at United play the same position, the other is injury plagued and has passed his peak. LVG therefore needs to bring in another 6 outfield players minimum, and gel them in to the squad with a reduced preseason to buy andbintegrate the players in to.a squad that has completley lost its backbone.
You have no transfer income from giggs Rio vidic and evra, and failed to.address any weak areas last season.
And to that you actually posted a loss after interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation, and Woodward stated you will lose 30 million this season from being out of CL (not including the prize money, 30 million for the group stage) and you are looking at a heavy loss before any.squad investment.
Let's be kind and assume any players you bring in take home the same wages as the departing frees, then 7 players of decent quality will be minimum 100 million to 150 million..
I can't see united gambling that sort of money on a transfer spree that will have limited time to bed in, and has lost all its leaders, because I think it very unlikely you would make the CL next season, and posting a close to 200 million pound loss would make you fall foul of ffp for the next three years anyway, causing massive financial sanctions on top of your club which barely manages it's debt when winning league titles and competing in the CL.
A man as divisive as LVG and with a relatively poor record outside the Dutch league is probably not the man for the complete overhaul you require, and he isn't a long term appointment which you really need!
He is known for tactical inflexibility and publicly condemning players he is unhappy with, can't see rooney going for that treatment!

Great post.
Makes me a bit happier with his appointment - wish they'd kept Moyes for longer though!
