Imagine a group of Real Madrid, Dortmund, Liverpool and Roma.
..............................
We've played all of them in European Finals. That would be quite something!

Not Dortmund. It was Borussia Moenchengladbach.

Remember this? What a great game that was. (I do know Madrid were quite weak then, but it was still an amazing win)

I remember it well. We had an interim president at the time who famously predicted we were going to 'píss all over' you.

I agree, we had a strong team that year coming off back to back Liga titles. Problem was that by the time we came up against Liverpool there'd been a lot of turmoil at the club. The president had been forced to resign and Schuster had been sacked, and even though we had a fantastic run in the league, our football under Ramos was dire.
Not to take anything away from Liverpool though - you were arguably at the height of Benitez's spell at the club, and had quite a few of your players at their peaks too. You simply had way too much for us and took us to the cleaners well and proper. The only saving grace for us imo was that our players never really lost face and kept on trying to get forward even when it was patently clear we had zero chance of going through.

IOAG,
I meant European finals as in European Competition, not simply European Cup finals.
We played Dortmund in the 66 CWC.

My mistake then Major, thought you meant the EC proper.
