European Triumph

The most desired trophy out there as we all know and I believe our time is around the corner with the correct additions and a bit of injury luck I really do. We were smashing Bayern to pieces before Robben cheated and messed up the game. Even after the penalty miss. I think we could have still done them 3-1. That was one of the strongest sides Wenger fielded all season even without Rambo & Theo. Sanogo & Ox combined a mixture of strength, pace and flair (Ox) up top, with Santi & Mesut the 2 creative sparks and Jack was superb that game with his engine and intricate passing.

My one regret last season is not seeing our strongest 18 lined up in ONE single game. Hopefully the extent of that crisis is a one off though of course 1 or 2 crucial injuries are always to be expected concerning us but with the money and halving cleared out 90% of deadwood we could really have a strong squad next season and never have to field players of Denilson/Santos/Bedntners level again.

Moving on to the headline. When we do win it, it must be true and valuable. Wenger's brand of football has always been the correct beliefs but he hasn't been able to tune it mentally. It's fair that Chelsea fans still boast about winning it but for me theirs will never mean much amongst the world, it's more for their fans. We must aim to be memorable like the Barca, Bayern, Madrid, Milan era. Where people look back and point to that particular side and dub it special. Chelsea's year was a mess they had 2 incapable managers who didn't inspire anything it was more individual moments that made their year Drogba and then an open field for Torres, parking the bus and scraping by hoping for the best is never special/memorable and deep down Chelsea fans think this, they wished their 1st was more special but really by the world they're considered that small club who which was in a mess and splashed an enormous amount but just scraped the latter stages and won on penalties..... nobody rates Jose's old sides either.

Even Liverpool's was more memorable to an extent at least they tried to attack even with clowns like Baros, Cisse, Mellor and Sinama up top. Gerrard and Alonso were great and what happened to Luis Garcia? He was neat. Coming from 3-0 down in one game was special. Chelsea did nothing like it. Just parked for 90+ minutes then got lucky breaks. We must win it with a philosophy and an entertaining style. We nearly went against our morals in the recent cup final trying to hoof it to both Giroud & Sanogo but the inner part of this club ended up trying to win it the right way and the 3rd goal is proof of that, we can never leave this style

If Chelsea's parking the bus style is the only chance of us winning Europe in the near future then I'm happy to wait, Arsenal are the real representatives of London's classy side and we will win it suited to the stature of England's top 3 biggest club. In style .

That sounds worse than "Next year is our year"

Sorry, well reasoned and fair points but if you were to ask fans of other clubs I doubt you would find many that think that are that close to winning it.

No harm in hoping though

By the time Arsenal get around to winning the competition, they'll probably be holding the final on a terraformed Mars. So you don't need to worry about winning it in style just yet

To be fair you should be winning the CL if you're able to line up with 18 players.

Always excuses.

I can't see us winning it that soon, but it is surprising that a club of Arsenal's stature has not won the European Cup before. I hope that I can be dealt a pleasant surprise.

You see, Arsene Wenger is a builder.

While he is drawing the blueprints and waiting for planning permission, we have others who make pre fab stuctures. Fast and easy, it looks nice but there is no substance beneath.

And they wonder, why does AW take so much time with the foundation, with the plumbing and electricity, or why does he live in a house without any roof. 'That's the act of a crazy man'. They can see the unfinished model, but not the final masterpiece.

But AW knows what it will be, because he drew the blueprints and made the plans, and when its time, he will have the most valuable and beautiful house in the street.

Relate it to football, and Arsenal will soon have a team can conquer the Premier League and Champions League.
