Cesc Fabregas

Yes, I know it is silly season and we are going to be linked with every man and his dog and linking Cesc with a return to his real home is as about as lazy and easy to write as they come.

However, the Independent, with their story of the day, reckon if Cesc asks for a move then we can have him back for £25 mill. I'm aware we have the 'buy back clause' however has it ever been clarified what that actually means? Surely if Chelsea and United go on a £40 mill bidding war for the boy with Arsenal DNA then we cant steal him away for 15 mill less than what they've been offered.

Secondly. although he'll be welcomed back with open arms, do we need him, do we break the bank for him?

We can have him back for £25M. Everyone else has to pay £40M. If Barca sell him to someone else he will get something like half the transfer fee. I could see us sitting back and letting United/City/whoever sign him up just to put some money in the bank. We don't really need him anymore but I would be sick to see him playing for another English club. Hope we bring him back.

Agree, but can't see him going to Utd. City don't need him and he'll never go to Chelsea in a million years while Jose's there.

Why do people even believe the possibility of Cesc going to anyone but Arsenal? He's said it numerous times Arsenal would be only club he'd go for. Wenger also said so a few times he'll return. If you can't see that then you're dumb as feck

I don't think anyone on her disagrees he will return but what we are saying is do we need him?

But with Rosicky, Cazorla and Arteta getting on a bit I can't see why not.....

I'd love him to return he would add great squad depth to the team.

How anyone can argue that the team below would not crush all is a fool.

------Martinez--Ramsey----
Walcot-----Cesc------Ozil
------------New CF------------

Bench of -
Cazorla,
Wilshire
Diaby
Flamini
Giroud
Ox

All of a sudden we have a freaking great team capable of winning the league imo.

"lol @ people who think we will buy Javi Martinez."

Yeah, a little fanciful to say the least.

Assuming he actually meant that, situations change. If he is being shown the door by Barca and Arsenal decide not to go in for him, what other choice would he have than to go elsewhere?

Also, I am severely sceptical that Arsenal have a first refusal at £25m option like some suggest. I really can't see Barca being stupid enough to agree to that. Us getting a cut of anything above £25m seems more realistic.

It's £35m, according to the Sun:
"Arsenal are lining up a £35million bid to bring Cesc Fabregas back to the Emirates. Arsene Wenger has first refusal on the Barcelona star, who left for £30m in 2011. Midfielder Fabregas, 27, looks certain to return to the Premier League — and new Barca boss Luis Enrique will not stand in his way. Wenger has been given a £100m war-chest and has always thought about Fabregas returning. The Gunners manager is now willing to test Barca’s resolve in the face of Manchester United’s long-standing interest in Spain international Fabregas. Arsenal lead the chase as they agreed a complex deal when they sold Fabregas, which included a buy-back clause. If Fabregas joins another club, Arsenal will also receive half the profits of anything over £30m. Barca can unload their former junior and get in new blood this summer after FIFA suspended its transfer ban on the club for breaching rules on signing youth players. Fabregas has been under fire from a section of the Nou Camp fans as Barca won nothing this term. Fabregas has hit 35 goals in 105 Barca starts, having scored 59 in 268 for the Gunners."

I would take him back in a heartbeat

if he signed tomorrow he would be the best player in the squad.
