Lampard Given the Number 8

Surely this doesn't mean he will be in the first XI for the World Cup, DOES IT?!

Unless its 1986 and we've gone back to the days of 1-11 squad numbers I would say no

If it is a standard 1-11 as starting X1 then we can expect:

-------------------Hart
Johnson--Cahill--Jagielka---Baines
------------------Gerrard
------------Wilshere--Lampard
-----Sturridge---Rooney---Welbeck

They have just given as many players as possible the same squad no. as they have for their teams .

Its not rocket science to work out, why do people have to see conspiracies everywhere?

I don't think it's a conspiracy but I DO believe that the X1 above is probably what we will see line up in the first game at least.

Danny Welbeck wears 19, if the aim was to provide the same number as much as possible then surely he would have 19 and Raheem 11 for example??

I do think there is something behind it... Thinking back, usually in recent England matches 1-11 have started I believe.

This is generally true for any game that isn't an actual World Cup/Euros match as the numbers can be decided on the day in friendlies or qualifiers whereas these competitions need the numbers submitted beforehand.

Fair point... I'm still sticking to my prediction though of the first game starting X1
