Levy does it again....!!

So if we appoint Pochetinno we will be appointing a manager who Levy's previously sacked managers both beat in the same season.

I can't think of any other owner who would think that is an inspired strategy.

If it is Ponch then I'll be glad. He will bring a summer of some hope but at least it won't be false hope which what we have all come accustomed too. It's a good signing of a manager. Not a great one and the experience of managing in the prem for over a season fills me with a little confidence. Of course if it all goes knees up the knives will be out for Levy I fear. Rightly so as well.

Sorry but the appointment of Pochettino would be massively underwhelming for me IF I was a Spurs fan. What has he achieved as a manager??

stupendous logic that

paul lambert managed a team that beat a team managed by jose mourinho last season, so he has to be the better manager.

btw OP, Pocc's southampton beat liverpool last season, whereas liverpool spanked both sherwoods team and avb's team.

the logic of spurs fans never fails to astound me. no wonder this club never gets anywhere. guy hasn't even got the job and the knives already out.

faaack this.

Lol Holy Chronic! Before the beginning of last season NONE of you so called football fans with great understanding of football would have appointed Pochetinno as our manager. Yet after ONE season he suddenly is good enough to be selected above several internationally coaches and managers.

Great logic....faaaack this too!

If we want to give Poch a chance that is fine. I'll always support the club but please don't patronise me into your thought and logic. If i think it's odd and that he is no better in my opinion than AVB then it's an opinion. Poch has not shown me that he is capable of managing a squad as big as ours or even managing a team in europe and domestic competition.

Levy is in a tight spot. Van Gall has gone north. De Boer has said "no" in private - smart man.
He's sacked Tim.
And he has a squad thats got lots of rats talking of leaving a sinking ship.
So, Levy has to do something quick. Pochettino is probably his best move.
But IMHO, its Enic and Levy that have to go - if fans at WHL want a top club to cheer week after week.

It's not as easy as saying Pochettino is "better" than AVB or vice versa, the key thing Levy (hopefully) has to get is the right man for the job. We've got a young squad with lots of potential for improvement but also inevitable sales along the way.

De Boer would fit in that he's mined the Ajax youth system year after year and been successful while losing his best players. However, he'd probably take a while to settle in and we all know how demanding Levy can be.

Pochettino will also bring through the youth, and play a modern European style of football.. while already at home in the PL and with a good understanding of the media and fans here.

I'm excited that, short of Martinez, we can attract the brightest young coach in the league.. there is more to compare him to RM than AVB. A smart, talented young coach that seems to understand you can have a system but also make playing enjoyable. I just hope - as I think we all do - that Levy realises that with a young manager will come the odd slip up, Rome wasn't built in a day..

loavirgo - where exactly have I said that the guy is my choice. I personally think its risky. that said, I don't have knives out for him before he has even got the job though.

spurs fans are so counter productive.

Whilst i believed we should have stayed with Sherwood as i thought he simply deserved a chance, if i were to choose anyone from the reported short list i would probably take a punt for Pochettino.

My biggest hunch is his poor English and the fact we'll have to listen to his post match comments via an interpreter but at least he's got a proven record for improving a team in the very league we play in.

Its a bit of a knee-jerk as he's flavour of the month at the moment but i can at least see a logical reason for appointing him.
