If ever there was a stupid career move...

My guess is that when he signed the contract, he sniffed into a chalice and declared, "I love the smell of poison in the morning!"
I think he was well suited to Southampton and probably didn't have a long enough track record to take on a bigger job (forgive me for calling Spurs 'big'). Not only that, but I think Spurs have bigger issues than just the manager, so I don't think Pochettino will make as big an impact as hoped.
I think it's a bad move all round. Your opinions?
Big mistake

He's clearly a talented manager, must have jumped ship as soon he found out southampton are looking to sell their best players

Not a stupid career move by any means, Saints have probably peaked if they're now selling players.
I think he'll do okay but not spectacularly, which unfortunately he'll need to be if the best ever performance by a manager in Sherwood still wasn't enough for Levy.
I wonder how many more manager changes Levy can survive?

It's definitely a good move for him and spurs all wums aside. Whether he will last as long as remains to be seen. Who knows they could pose a threat to top 4 properly this time.

Lambsy - I may be an Arsenal fan but I like Pochettino and have respect for what he's achieved. I just think it'sa bad move, given the limited time other managers have been afforded.

Spurs have been posing a threat to the top four for a number of years now. Only a fool would deny that. A few results either way for any of the current top four, and the pendulum could so easily swing. It would be arrogant to think otherwise, despite Spurs playing absolute rubbish last season, they still amassed 68 points, a healthy total to build on.

I reckon there are probably a couple of things that have influenced his decision to move, as Southampton are a good club in a strong position to move on whereas Spur appear require a significant overhaul (again). I imagine that the Saints board didn't give him any assurances that the likes of Lallana and Shaw would not be sold, and I reckon the other issue is his wage. Otherwise, while it's not a sideways step, there are plenty of good reasons to stay at Southhampton.

I wouldn't read too much into a five year deal, Moyes had a six year deal

Rui, let's put it this way - at least Mauricio and his family will have a very expensive Christmas, courtesy of Levy.
