Hopes for the World Cup

I'm 100% in 'World Cup' mode and hence, not enjoying reading 50 articles a day about premiership transfer gossip. Wanted to know what everyone's 'hopes' were for the World Cup, and i don't mean which team you want to win it or really anything team-specific, just things that you want to happen so that the tournament as a whole lives up to what we want to it to. Here are some of mine:

1) Goals! (in 2010, only 2 of the first 10 matches saw both teams score, and we had to wait until 19th match of the tournament before a game which involved both teams scoring that wasn't 1-1. Way to many 1-0 scorelines

2) Better crowds (i don't mean in numbers but in behaviour - the Vuveluezas were a problem for most in 2010, but it was the indifference of the crowds that annoyed me the most. They didn't seem to care what the score was of even pay that much attention to the match at times)

3) Teams trying to win! (Ditch the 'we shall not lose' philosophy. Many games in 2010 featured teams cancelling each other out. Ivory Coast V Portugal was probably the worst example but there were others)

4) Good Management (Several managers ruined their teams chances of progression in 2010 by either picking the wrong squad or picking the wrong team selections or - in most of these instances - both. Lippi, Capello, Le Guen, Maradona, Domenech. I know 31 teams cant win it, but go out with a bang, not in embarrasment like those teams did)

5) Identity (two many teams lost their identities in 2010. The 'total football' Dutch turned very dirty, the flairy, attacking Brazilians were playing two holding midfielders against North Korea, the 'solid at the back' Italians couldn't keep a single clean sheet. I know that modern society teaches us that stereotypes are a bad thing, but in football they are comforting)

6) Good Decisions (I know a lot of people feel that they add to the excitement, but i hate it when a really bad penalty/offside decision or ball-crosses-the-line call gets made. I'm enraged if happens against my team, i'm embarrassed if it happens for my team - especially if we were better anyway. Hope all is fair this time, and no huge injustices make the headlines.

im sure there are a lot more but there's 6 for now, hoping people can add to the list....

i see 'fangirls' is becoming a popular word on this site. Your point is that you disagree with people who's favourite football tournament is the UEFA Champions League, as opposed to the World Cup?

Forza

Yeah the world cup has always been my favourite and will NEVER be topped (coming from an Italian family, it's trained that way). I always here Graeme Souness decrying it though. I think the WC involves people more, more colour, more women and children getting involved, the champions league has a football-elitism thing going-on....

(p.s. thanks if it was you who voted me 5 stars )

I think the world cup has become too money orientated. Whoever signs the best players tends to win. With the champions league it is teams made up of players who were born in the club. So is more pure.

Born in the club yo. Uh. Yeah.

"Getting down with my Nigerians in the country yo." See that just sounds terrible. The other way is better, hence CL better.
