Another 2 riders dead at this year's TT. That's 14 since 2010 and a whopping 45 since 2000; over 50 if you include marshalls & spectators who have died at either at the TT or Manx GP. One hell of a contrast to F1, where I believe the death toll is 3.
I realise it's the riders' choice to take part in the TT, but it is still their job, and absolutely no job should have such a high death rate. It was also people's "choice" to go down the coal mines when they were death traps, but that doesn't mean improvements in safety weren't needed.
I think that it needs to be massively improved safety-wise, or just banned altogether. There really isn't any justification for this bloodsport in a civilised society.
Time to Ban the TT?

that is a hell of a tally since the year 2000 , it makes you wonder what if anything the organisers are doing to improve safety with such an appalling death toll -
have to agree with you , for me the organisers have lost the right to have a race there with such a dismal record for safety --

More could be done in terms of safety, better barriers and more marshals, but comparing it to the safety record of F1 isn't really fair: these guys are f1 speeds on public roads and without the benefit of a safety cell to protect them like in F1.

True, but if you look back at the bad old days of F1, the death toll was pretty high too. People probably said the same thing about safety back then, but we've got to a stage where we're averaging one death every 5 years, rather than 3 every year at Manx events.
Even MotoGP is far, far safer than the TT. Think it's only had a couple of deaths since 2000. There's no reason road racing couldn't strive to be as safe as that.

But the risk is what makes the riders like it, 9 out of the 10 riders wouldn't do moto gp because they find it to boring. It's there choice and they know the risk

i am against "Banning" things in general for various reasons. However i believe efforts should be doubled and doubled again to improve safety at the TT, its not acceptable

The racer (I ride bikes or used to) in me appreciates the TT but if significant steps are not taken to reduce the deaths, it should be stopped.

It's what they want to do so leave them to it.
