Nobody Wants Cesc

Firstly, I know all reports should be taken with a pinch of salt as there are no quotes regarding the whole thing, but apparently the stance of each club is as follows;

Man City - Only interested if Toure leaves
Chelsea - Only an option if Pogba and Koke deals aren't done
Man Utd - LVG doesn't want him
Arsenal - Have no apparent want or need for him
Liverpool - Well he'd be perfect for them but I haven't seen much in the news

So who will get him and is he a number one target for any of these clubs?

Stats aside, do you not feel Cesc has the quality to improve any PL club (should he join) - especially in view of the transfer fee - not that much more than Fellaini?

I'm not questioning the value for money, or his ability.

All I said was it is possibly a bigger risk than many on here seem to realise.

Cesc has now realised his dream of playing for the club he loves, he has won all there is to win and done so at a club playing a very particular style. There may be questions over his ambition.

All I have said is it may not be as seamless to switch back to PL mode as you think. He has and can do it, and as you say the value for money is unquestionable.

Consistent figures, but wouldn't you expect these stats from somebody in his role playing for Barca?

---

Would any Utd CM get anything close to this playing for Barca ?

Of course it's laughable to sugguest Barca would even have a CM as poor as one of ours but say they did.

But he hasn't played cm, this is exactly my point.

If you put Mata, Kagawa or Rooney in the role Cesc has played, I'm sure they'd not be a million miles off, I'd argue Mata would have done better.

His stats in the last 3 years only mount to a goal or assist every 2 games, and that's in La Liga for Barca.

I don't like to use stats usually anyway, but somebody mentioned his stats earlier in the article.

I'm not sure, i've seen Fabregas play CM for Barca a lot of times.

Can't say I've watched La Liga religiously as I used to in the last 18 months, but I've not seen him play alongside Xavi or Busquets once.

Think he was in the AM position for about 20 minutes against Atleitco in the CL before being subbed.

Barca don't really play a ridgid formation though do they. so it's hard to tell.

IMO the main disparity is that at Barca, nearly everything goes through one of Messi/Iniesta or Xavi, and Cesc was playing pretty much as a false nine.

If he went to United for example he would probably be best served playing a bit deeper behind RvP/Rooney.

Point is IMO any role he would play would not be comparable to that of how Barca utilised him but on balance suggest the positives far outweigh any negatives (in respect to ‘risk’ ) for any team in the PL.

People saying he can't play in CM obviously never watched him at Arsenal.

Completely agree, we just don't know if he will seamlessly slot back into a cm role, in a new league, with a new club ect is my point.

He may well come back and be the Cesc he was at Arsenal, but there is no guarantee.
