but I want him at united
I dont think Cesc will do that well playing behind Costa in a Jose bus. He will win some trophies which which he could have also do at barca but he wont get to play to his full ability.
Player like Cesc at this stage of their career should be looking to win ballon dor or get picked for the team of the year etc. He can achieve that only if the team is playing to his strengths imo. he will get that at united
Money should not be a problem, we bend over for Rooney so we should be prepared to bend over for Cesc, we are more desperate for a quality CM than a striker
Cesc wont come to us at the end but we should do everything we could to get him.

It depends where he plays. As an attacking midfielder I think he can thrive at Chelsea with the runners he'll have playing off him.
Yeah it may not get the best out of his tippy tappy game but his tippy tappy game, as show by Barca, isn't all that anyway.
He's better in a team that is more direct, and Chelsea are more direct then Barca, so if he's the main man he could potentially be more influential for Chelsea than Barca.
I suppose you could say the same about Mata, as well. But that's a strange one and I think there's a lot more to it than Jose not fancying him because of his defensive work - I think they just wanted to balance the books and Mata, and has now happened with Luiz, were players they could sell for big money without really damaging the side long term.
I agree we should try. But I've always felt that Cesc will never be a United player, and there are fair reasons as to why he'd choose other clubs.
I hope I'm wrong, though.

Yeah, true. jose did get the best out of sneider and ozil, so he might get the best out of Cesc as well.
You have to admire the way chelsea work on transfers, they identified that they need a striker, buy one even before the window opens, Con PSG in to paying 40m for luiz. If they get cesc, its a marvelous transfer window for them

You say that but they bought Torres for £50m, Ramires for £18m and instead of buying a top striker they signed the Brazilian Milner (Wilner) for £30m and got Eto'o on a free.
Great transfer window this summer, however.

They made some blunders but they move swiftly and gets their man most of the time. I was expecting United to act the same way given our situation, Guess we'll wait till the WC is over and all the players prices gets hiked up

I dunno about that. Chelsea have missed out on the likes of Godin, Aguero, Falcao, Cavani and Rooney in the past, so they don't always act swiftly and get their man.
Our situation is by no means ideal, I agree, but there appears to be a lot of grass is greener mentality when it comes to other team's transfer skills when it's not strictly true.
City, from what I can gather, are probably the best ones in the prem in this regard.
And although we moan, it could be worse, just look at Arsenal.

City and chelsea usually gets their man and strengthen the areas that needs strengthening without much delay, while We havent sign a CM in a long time even though we are weak in that area(felaini doesnt count). so We are behind City and chelsea in that aspect imo, well not as bad as Arsenal
I expected us to move quickly in this transfer window given our desperate/critical situation. Prices of the players usually goes up after a WC, all parties involved with transfers should know this, so it would be sensible to get couple of transfers wrapped up early before the WC imo.

Yeah I agree with that.
