Cautiously optomistic Hand H.Chatham,, now there's a spot, used to be the back room at The Squire, only open in summer i think ,had open rafters with rakes of bras tossed up on to them by game young lassies.Awee bit pricey, but a great bowl of chowder. The waysideopposite had great grub too, reasonably priced. But wintertime in Chatham, talk about rolling up the pavements at night, i think the bumper stickers used to say " a quaint drinking village with a fishing problem ".Hope you n yours are keeping well.

Chatham, Mass. , good ol U.S.A. ., that's where. The Great Republic, and being a republic, any citizen, not subject can potentially become an elected head of state,, government by the people, for the people and of the people. This contrasts sharply with some countries , where people are content to be ruled, not served, by generations of unelected monarchs, the products of very tightly guarded gene pools.
But what's the connection ?, well there are many. Perhaps the most important one is in 1942 when the aforementioned Great Republic saved The Windsor Royal family from extinction.Strangely thev family W had been playing footsie with their newfound sworn enemies just a few years before. The thought process of a Royal is a funny ol game ,, innit ?
But your question was who , not where , wasn't it.The hardy seafaring folk of the fishing bvillage of Chatham, that's who.Their local football team would be the New England Revolution, whose first manager was Frank Stapleton, a great player who not only was a contemporary of Pat Jennings in the world of North London footbal , but a pal.Pat Jennings , who honed his skills at Shamrock Rovers. That'd be the one n the same Hoops who'll be taking their unique brand of entertaining football to Belgrade soon.
I know you'll be wowing them down at the dumbell room at the gym with these factoids,, so in advance,, you're welcome..

Bazzer, presumably the vintage Action Jackson comic books strewn about the warm down room in The Crown And Empire Gym provide the definitive narrative of WW2 down your way, but a healthy broadening of perspective on this topic might be the prudent course of action for you.The notion that they were swilling vodka and already drawing up topographical blueprints for the Berlin Wall , before, the Yanks hit the beaches at Normandy is well, um eehh debatable at the very least. But,, you made the effort to comment on this thread,, soooo,, i'll knock the ball into your path with an open goal in front of you,, Germany,, economy ,, R.O.I.,, go on my son ,, you can do it,, if not for yourself,, DO IT FOR ULSTER,, STAND UP

Milltown, you like the Great Whites don't belong in these shallow waters. Just easy feeding?
Frank Stapelton was not only a great player and serious nice fella but could drink with the best of them.
Another fabulous week on the Cape. Ever check out Land Ho in Oreleans?

H and H, football apart, Stapleton seems to be a solid well balanced bloke from what i've read. You spend enough time at that establishment at the lights in Orleans and you , like the locals, will be calling it , simply, The Ho.I heard "The Ho" openened "The Ho 2" in Harwichport, it used to be owned by one of Tip O Neills sons i think, the 400 Club. But back to THE Ho,last time i was in there they had a big U.S.A. 94 Tricolour up, back a few years mind.
