Neuer
Darmain Bonucci Zouma Ricardo
Vidal Blind
Sanchez Barkley Neymar
Sterling

Krul, Laporte, Rabiot, Coman, Roberts, Zivkovic, Werner

In goal Neuer, a fantastic shot stopper and a keeper that instills confidence in the back four, leads by example from the back, shouting instructions to hos defenders. Out quickly to shut down strikers and close there shooting angles down. Punches clear what he cant catch from high balls and likes to release early to set up quick counters.

Bonucci and Zouma are a solid pairing at CB, on this occassion Bonucci will man mark the CF quick and skillfull for a CB, with great marking abilities, will keep the CF away from goal and be on to him quickly as he comes forward so he can intercept any though he has of going for goal. When in possession he will carry the ball out and start attacks from the back. Zouma alongside will mark any big men that come up for corners etc strong in the air and strong ion the tackle and make sure he is strong enough to get the ball away from danger.

Ricardo and Darmian at fullback, when we attack one goes at a time the other sits back. When they attack I want them bombing down the wing over lapping the winger to allow them to cut inside, quick passing between the two to get them passed the opposition fullback, which will see the fullback drive towards the bye line to get a quick cross in. If its not a cross then look for the winger inside to play a quick pass back to them so they can drive into the box. Defending both will have to be vigilant and always mindful of the tricks the opposite winger can do. Be onto them quickly not allowing them the time to get going, push them out wide and stop them becoming a threat.

We go with Blind and Vidal in the centre of midfield, two absolute workhorses, can both defend and attack, when we defend they will work together to shut there midfield down the AM (Blind) and second most advanced CM (Vidal), they will close down everything very quickly and not allow there players any time on the ball whatsoever, once the ball is won, then Vidal will be the one mostly to drive on into support Sterling and Barkley, Blind will stay backjust in case Both good on the ball and Vidal has a great eye for goal, can shoot from a variety of angles. Always looking to mix it up with who drives orward so no one can be particulary mark him look out for Sanchez and Neymr coming inside and put some nice crisp through balls into them and Sterling and Barkly.

Sancez and Neymar are chosen on the wings, Sanchez work rate is exceptional and will help out the fullback when and if needed. Both quick with nimble feet which more often than not takes them passed the fullback, wether they knock it passed them and drive on or simple a quick turn, and there away. Will have fullbacks supporting them so this allows them to pass and cut inside where both are very useful. Give and go, wait for the return and go for goal, or look to drive into the box in support of Sterling. Neymar focusses more on the ttricks and twists and also pure pace to see him passed, whereas Snchez likes to make the pass that gives him time to look for space for him to drive into and wait for the return. Both very dangerous and with support from there respective fullbacks we will be a danger out wide. When defending look to get back and stop there defenders becoming a threat. Like said they support the defenders when they have the ball and the defenders support them when we attack.

Barkley is given a free role today to try and break them down, he will drift all over as to make it difficult for his marker to pick him up, as he drifts this will leave holes in the Barca midfield for us to take advantage of. He will switch with eithe Winger at times as he looks to get himself into dnagerous positons. If he drives centrally he and Sterling will cause a lot of problems, he will pass to the CF and look to move into fantastic positions for Sterling to get him in in on goal, when we defend I want him to run down the DM looking to keep him off the ball and foerce him into mistakes.

Sterlng will get plenty chances, he must put away this Barca side who will be solid at the back. Get into positions that he can go for goalor at very least drag players away for other players to drive into the space. two good feet, can score from various angles/ranges..All of our front four will be a threat today we must go for it and keep pace with the league leaders. Can hold it up and look for runners, in particular Barkly, andhe two wingers running into support. Strling snchez ad Neymarwill all rotate and take the position an tactics gven to each above

A very difficult game but we have a good side defensively and going forward, quick passing, one twos and drive into positions to recieve a return ball, we really must go fr it, at the same time nothing risky

General:
Aston Villa’s set-up will be reminiscent to the Dutch team in the 2014 World Cup. A back three, two central midfielders, 2 wing backs, a 10 and two centre forwards. Aston Villa’s back three can situationally morph into a back five with the wing backs dropping into the defensive line. Aston Villa’s 3-2 defensive block will allow easy circulation of the ball in the defensive area due to the natural positioning of the players in this system. This team will be one that presses in defensive phase, one which moves the ball quickly in transition phase and one which circulates the ball to open spaces. The 3 up front will look to take up good positions and cover space, reducing possible passes for the opposition team. The ball will be moved quickly when Aston Villa regain possession to take advantage of opened up space with the opposition not in their normal defensive structure. Both forwards need to make sure they run into wide areas where the full backs are probably missing and get a 1v1 with the centre halves where one could put the ball in and while the other gets into the box, link up with full backs when they come forward as well. The centre midfielder and the number 10 will get up to support the attack. Defending the 18 yard line is the main aim and will limit the opposition to long shots. All players stick to positions and won’t be dragged out of position. If the opposition want to play fancy passing and have 90% possession, let them, but our team will be compact not allowing anything to get into the 18 yard box.

Navas:
Claim crosses if possible. Always clear lines, and hoof up the pitch towards the strikers whenever possible. The ball must stay clear of the 18 yard box at all times. Communication is key with centre halves to avoid confusion when deciding who claims a loose ball / cross.

Can and Koscielny:
Deals with opposition attackers. Koscielny keeps an eye on their attacking midfielder when he gets close to the 18 yard line. Koscielny will also mark their striker closely not allowing him space to turn. Koscielny or Fernandinho will deal with knock-downs to their supporting player depending on who is closer. Can will try and win headers when long balls are played towards the back line. Can will not be as aggressive but step up to attack players that come down his side. Koscielny will be the centre half who steps up and clears up balls before it reaches their attackers, but must only go if he’s 100% sure he’ll get it. Both will protect the central centre half to the best of their abilities. Go up for corners.

Toprak:
Sits in line with the other two centre halves, he is not a sweeper. Will try and win headers when long balls are played towards the back line. Will also clean up any balls / players who manage to get through the other two centre halves. Go up for corners.

Zabaleta and Shaw:
Will both go forwards and support the attack. Will also act as extra bodies in midfield to help with holding onto the ball. Can drop into a back 5 if necessary. Main aim is to provide width and thump in crosses at every opportunity. Shoot if there is a clear sight of goal. Stays back for corners. Must not commit to tackles otherwise wingers will skip past them, just stay close, limit their space and show them onto their weaker foot.

Fernandinho and Koke:
Sits deep, breaks up play and snap at their heels then break with the ball. Fernandinho is an engine that can cover a lot of ground when defending. Koke will buzz around and dictate play, bursting forwards at times to provide an extra body in attack. Koke will be a bit ahead of Fernandinho to be more involved in exchanging passes with full backs / Turan, even going level with Turan at times to use his incredible vision to find teammates. Fernandinho stays close to the centre halves. Both sprays balls wide to wing backs and directly to the front 3. Fernandinho stays back for corners. Will not allow the opposition any time on the ball in front of centre halves. Fernandinho sticks to position when wing backs fly forwards, providing cover if needed. Fernandinho will stand outside the box during set pieces to smack in rebounds if not taking a set piece.

Turan:
Will constantly hit balls towards both strikers and if not possible, to the wing backs flying forwards. The number 10 will press the opposition along with the the other midfielders when without the ball. Will stand outside the box if not taking a set piece to hit a rebound.

Sturridge and Lacazette:
Holds up play for the support midfielders and spray the ball wide to wing backs when they come forward, if not then they will pull wide to exploit attacking space. Get into the box at every opportunity when their partner pulls out to wide areas. Both should be able to play quick one-twos with each other if they happen to be close to each other. Both will play on the shoulder of the opposition defence and will attempt at times to get in the space between centre halves and full backs, if there isn’t a lot of space. Their pace will allow long balls to be launched occasionally to them.

SUBS:
Winning/Drawing:
75 mins: Turan OFF Gustavo ON
Gustavo replaces Turan and will slot into centre midfield to shore up the midfield and to help keep the ball better in order to close the game out. Proper 3 in midfield.

Losing:
75 mins: Turan OFF Dost ON
Essentially going 3-4-3 where Dost will join Sturridge and Lacazette up front. Offers the option for the others to find him to run onto the ball and to lump the ball to him.

PORTSMOUTH v Aston Villa

Lloris
Carvajal Pepe Hummels Marcelo
De Rossi Modric
Coutinho Goetze F.Anderson
Lewandowski

Substitutes:
ter-Stegen; Soares; Kongolo; Guarin; Goretzka; Welbeck; Fekir

Captain: De Rossi
Penalties: Lewandowski
Corners: Coutinho
Free Kicks: Goetze

Game Plan:

Our score draw away at Villa Park puts us in a superb position to progress through to the semi finals which means that we will be expecting a professional and well-organised performance from our lads to get the job done. We have reverted back to the 4-2-3-1 system for this game because we are looking to play in a dynamic fashion that will crave open the opposition defence.

Our attacking game will focus around possession football. We want to keep the ball as much as possible and force the opposition to come chase the ball - potentially tiring them out to a point where they will be exhausted going in to the final minutes should we require a late goal.

We don't want to force our attacks; we want to be as efficient as possible so we will look to keep hold of the ball, working it around the field until an opening - presents itself. We can't afford to be caught out of position when the tie still hangs in the balance so, until we have a clear advantage, we will look to play safely.

Our attacking line up is potent enough to strike fear in to the hearts of even the most solid defences. In Lewandowski, we have one of the most complete all-round strikers in the game. In Modric, we have a brilliant central midfielder who can dictate a game with ease. In Marcelo and Carvajal we have two pacey full backs who love to bomb forward and in our 3 attacking midfielders we have a great combination of pace and trickery that we will be looking to take full advantage of in order to create gaps in the defence. With Carvajal and Marcelo pushing forward down the wings, this will give our attacking 3 the freedom to move inside, pushing up and dropping deep, with the sole intention of creating space for us to exploit. By constantly switching positions throughout the game, Villa's defence will be effectively chasing shadows.

In our own defence, we have a very capable keeper and, arguably, one of the strongest defences in the league. In front of the back 4 we have De Rossi and Modric, both players who are capable of keeping a dangerous opposition midfield under thumb. In recent weeks, we have seen some relatively positive performances from our defensive unit through our new defensive tactics so we will look to maintain this tactical style for our next match. We want to emulate the style that Arsenal used against Manchester City, setting up a solid 4-5-1 when not in possession. We will allow Villa to move the ball around their back 4 with minimal pressing from Lewandowski as our aim will be to invite them in to our half where our superior numbers in midfield will allow us to crowd out playing space and to regain possession.

Individual Tactics:

Lloris: A fantastic shot stopper, this is his first game back in a while so he will be looking for a strong performance to keep ter-Stegen away.

Carvajal + Marcelo: In defence, they will be combative and will not let their man go down the flanks. They will prefer to push them in to the midfield where our other players can dispossess them. Offensively, they will look to hug the flanks and drill the ball in low and hard.

Pepe + Hummels: Pepe will go up for every ball with their centre forward, knowing that he is strong enough to dominate physically and aerially. Hummels will drop back and will be looking to pick up any runs off the centre forward's shoulder or any runs behind the full backs.

De Rossi and Modric: De Rossi will play as the holding midfielder, looking to sit deep when we are in possession so that other players can push forward, effectively making him a 3rd centre back. We want him to be combative when we are not in possession. He needs to be up for every ball, looking to win it back as soon as it passes close to his area of the field.

Coutinho, Anderson and Goetze: Quick, direct, skillful and good in a variety of positions, these 3 players will look to be the difference for us in this game. We want them constantly moving around the pitch: swapping positions and darting in to different passing lanes either to drag opposition players out of the game or to provide an option for our team. When on the ball, we want them to drive at the opposition and really put them on the back foot.

Lewandowski: When we're in possession, he will play off the last shoulder, looking to get in behind for the goal. In defence, he will close down the man with the ball every time. We don't want them playing out from the back.

Substitutions:

70 minutes: Fekir for Anderson: Fekir has been an assist revelation for Lyon this year and he will be looking to replicate that feat here today.

75 minutes: Welbeck for Lewandowski: While not as good with the ball at his feet, Welbeck provides a superb amount of pace that will be of some concern to the Villa defence and should bring other players in to the game.

80 minutes: Goretzka for Modric: Games in their final minutes require a strong presence in order to change proceedings and we have exactly that in Goretzka. Strong yet also superb on the ball, he will be looking to combine with De Rossi in bullying Villa's midfield out of the match.

Captain: John Terry

Free Kicks: Christian Benteke
Penalties: Christian Benteke

Today we set up to play with more energy and pace than our opponents and get in their faces from the word go. We will look be difficult to play through and negate their attacking talents with lots of pressure and a rigid back line, defending our half, pressing their midfield and being first to every loose ball, but leaving no spaces in behind. On the ball we move it quickly, using width to stretch the game and fast build up play to find the spaces.

We will defend our half of the field in order to draw United out as we are confident in our organisation at the back and this allows us a better chance of creating space in between Uniteds slow midfield and defence to exploit quickly. We will begin our defending with high pressure on their midfield, using Benteke, Firmino and Griezzman to press the CMs, two pressing and one closing off the nearest wide option, not giving them time and space to pick their passes and making them rush the ball into the midfield area where we make it impossible to play through, and be first to every lose ball. Once the ball is played we want Griezmann and Firmino dropping in and joining Asamoah, Matic, Azpi and Verrratti in getting on top of the United midfield, pressing them quickly, closing off all the spaces, hunting in packs and winning the ball quickly, whilst Benteke presses the CMs from behind. If the ball is moved into wider areas then our midfield push across looking to keep things compact and surround United on the flank, with the WB also pushing up to shut off space, and the AM on that side coming across to help with the FB. If we can't win the ball we look to slow the down and regain our defensive shape with a 5-4-1 with flat banks of defenders and midfield and Benteke the spare man defending where he's required and providing an out ball.

Defending the midfield area is the key. One man who can stop their attacking intent is Matic, and we give him free reign over the midfield to use his excellent reading of the game to snuff out any danger, in particular paying attention to Fabregas and their AM/CM, knowing that he has the energetic Verratti as cover. Both United wide men also love to play infield and this will make it easier to deal with them in this system, with our two pacy WBs standing up strong, don't dive in and as much as possible look to force them across the pitch rather than letting them run directly at our defence, this way it allows the CMs to be able to step in. Whilst the WBs do this, Firmino and Griezzman will drop back and cover their FBs. Hazard in particular is a difficult man to stop, so we want three on him, Azpi touch tight, Firmino across to step in if he cuts in or follow the run of the FB so it doesn't leave us open and N'Koulou to come across and shield Azpi, either to block balls into the box or not leave Hazard room for a shot. Uniteds attackers like to play in the channels and this is why we set up with three at the back, it will stop them getting round the sides, staying close, only N'Koulou steps out to deal with Hazard, with Firmino dropping right back to cover the open space, allowing Terry and Garay to shuffle across and make sure gaps don't appear.

As soon as the ball is won we want to stretch them, Azpi and Asamoah bombing on to keep the FBs occupied and stretch things out, with our main route of attack looking to be central now things are more stretched, especially if Uniteds CM commits forward, we have the pace of the front three and the vision of Verratti to really hurt them, getting the ball wide if the space is there. Benteke will relish the battle with the opposition CB pairing, he will use his great hold up play to provide the out ball and then wait for the support of the SS, bully those CBs. The SSs will go where the space is to link up either with WBs or strikers, their main aim to use their pace to get round the sides of the slow CBs and then use Bentekes excellent movement to create chances. We want to be quick on the ball, Firmino comes into the side to insure we spring attacks quickly. Take United on with pace and power where we have the upper hand, especially against a depleted United team.

Subs:

If Winning on aggregate: Kondogbia and Oscar for Verratti and Firmino 70', extra legs in midfield to keep things up and more discipline to make sure there's no way back for United. Garcia for Griezmann 80', comes on, deals with Pirlo man to man, bully him off the ball.

If 1-0 to us: Bertrand for Asamoah 70', fresh legs down the wing. Costa for Benteke 75', straight swap. Oscar for Firmino 80', gives a bit more control to our midfield.

If Going out: Costa for N'Koulou 65', 4-4-2 more pressure on their back 4. Oscar for Firmino 75', create chances. Garcia for Verratti 80', come on, get in the box when we're attacking and be a presence.

Liverpool v MANCHESTER UNITED

Injuries: Rooney, Blackett, Khedira, Gaya

------------------Buffon
----Sokratis - Subotic - Howedes
Debuchy - Fabregas - Perez - Milner
-------Schurrle --------- Hazard
-----------------Lukaku

Subs: Mandanda, Stark, Vilhena, Pirlo, A.Pereira, Guedes, Kenedy

------------------

Big game away to Liverpool with us leading from the first leg, however injuries have played a part leading to us reshuffling our usual formation and with no recognised left back we are playing a 3-4-2-1 system, designed to frustrate Liverpool while leaving us able to hurt them on the break (as there's no doubt they'll be attacking us to turn around the defecit from the first leg). Sokratis, Subotic and Howedes in a back three, with Debuchy and Milner in the wingback roles. Fabregas and Perez in box to box roles in midfield, with Schurrle and Hazard either side of Lukaku. I want us to sit deep (but not too deep) to limit the impact of Griezmann and utilise our front three of Schurrle, Hazard and Lukaku to get at their defence, with Fabregas supplying the bullets from deep. Dictate possession and tempo, and pave the way to the Europa League final!

Buffon, stay calm under pressure, distribute the ball to your CB's but on occasion go long towards Lukaku. Stay big for one on ones.

Sokratis/Subotic/Howedes, potentially dealing with a front two, hence three of you playing. Mark one each and have an extra man to be first to any loose balls. In possession try to play through the middle, utilize the wingbacks and on occasion look for the ball over the top to Schurrle/Hazard/Lukaku.

Debuchy/Milner, playing the wingback role, without the ball drop to form a back five with Sokratis, Subotic and Howedes, and when their wingers run at you force them wide, prevent them from cutting inside. In possession get forward one at a time and look to overlap Schurrle and Hazard, and get crosses in for Lukaku. Link with Fabregas and Perez.

Fabregas and Perez, sitting in midfield, I want you to go against the Liverpool CM's, Perez to prevent anyone dropping deep from influencing the game. Fabregas to be the box to box man, assist Perez when we don't have the ball, but when we win it back link with the wingbacks, the wingers and Lukaku to cause Liverpool problems.

Schurrle/Hazard, playing wide AM almost, link the play from front to back and side to side, drift left and right and look to supply Lukaku with chances, also look for the wingback getting forward to support you, have a shot if the opportunity arises.

Lukaku to make his presence known by targeting their CB's physically, with Schurrle and Hazard making runs in behind to get shots in on goal. Work together to drag defenders out of position, and shoot on sight. Occasionally when the long pass comes, Lukaku to hold up play and link with Schurrle/Hazard. Utilize your strength and pace.

---------------

Subs 70 mins;
If winning on aggregate: Schurrle off, Pirlo on. An extra CM in our midfield, wingbacks drop to fullback and we play a 5-3-1-1 with Hazard off of Lukaku. Absorb pressure and look to counter.

If drawing on aggregate: Milner off, Pirlo on. Reshuffle, back four of Debuchy - Sokratis - Subotic - Howedes, Pirlo and Perez in midfield, Schurrle - Fabregas - Hazard behind Lukaku upfront, push for the winner without overcommitting. An away goal could be vital.

If losing on aggregate: Perez off, Pirlo on. Change to a 3-1-4-2 system, back three of Debuchy - Subotic - Sokratis, Pirlo the deep lying playmaker, Milner - Fabregas - Hazard - Schurrle behind a front two of Lukaku and Howedes. Howedes moves upfront as an emergency striker, seeing as he is lethal from setpieces, get into the area and see how John Terry can't handle Big Bad Benedikt. Push for goals.

PORTSMOUTH v Man United

Line up:

------------------------------------Cech-------------------------------------
--Lahm-----------------Jedvaj-----------Hummels----------------Gibbs--
---------------------Nainggolan---------------Guarin----------------------
---------------------------------Yaya Toure---------------------------------
--------Sterling------------------------------------Goetze-----------------
-------------------------------Lewandowski--------------------------------

Substitutes: ter-Stegen; Soares; Kongolo; Goretzka; Arnold; Anderson; Giroud

Captain: Lahm
Penalties: Lewandowski
Corners: Goetze
Free Kicks: Goetze

Game Plan:

Our entire season depends on this one game. Win and we set ourselves up in a perfect position for next season - lose and who knows where we will end up? We are well aware how important this game is for us and Manchester United so we will go in to the match under no illusions about how difficult of a match it will be.

Man Utd have a very potent attack but we feel that we have the defensive strength to stifle their play. Without the silky play of Cesc Fabregas to aid their attacking flair, the majority of their play is likely to come through Hazard and, to a lesser extent, Oezil. Those two players are likely to be given free roles so we have set up with Guarin and Nainggolan in midfield, two very industrious players with great engines, to track them around the pitch and stay close to them.
`Guarin will stick close to Oezil all game, not giving him the time he needs to influence a game. We know that he is not well built to deal with physical players so Guarin's presence should deal with him.

On the other side, Nainggolan will not stick as close to Hazard as it will leave us short in midfield. He will try to close off the passing lanes in the centre of the pitch that will limit the amount of possession Hazard can get and he will look to double up with either full back if Hazard has the ball on their side. If we stop Hazard, we will win the game.

Our team has been set up to play in a manner that pays homage to, but does not strictly follow, the Dutch total football team of old. We have players who can operate in numerous positions around the pitch and the 4-3-3 that we begin the game with is a highly adaptable formation. We want our players to routinely shift/switch positions to free up space and to keep our opponents guessing. In defence, we will most likely be shifting in to a 4-5-1 formation with the purpose of containing the opposition and crowding out their progressive play. In defence, our formation will look like:

Cech
Lahm Jedvaj Hummels Gibbs
Sterling Nainggolan Toure Guarin Goetze
Lewandowski

We will play with a deep defensive line, with Lahm and Gibbs pushing quite narrow to the centre backs so that Man Utd cannot any space in between our defenders. Sterling and Goetze will move in to wing back positions to cover up the flanks - they will be required to track any runners along the bylines and try to prevent them from cutting inside or putting any crosses in. With Guarin man marking Oezil and Nainggolan covering the runs of Hazard, it will be up to Yaya Toure to be the midfield destroyer. He will look to close down and bully the Man Utd midfielders when they are on the ball and his intent will be to break up play and regain possession for Portsmouth. Finally, Lewandowski will look to sweep along the Man Utd back line, closing down whoever has the ball and making sure that they can neither play the ball out from the back or run with it in to the midfield area.

In attack, this formation will morph in to a 4-2-4 of sorts with Yaya Toure sitting just behind Lewandowski and Sterling and Goetze pushing down the flanks.

Unlike in our last game against Chelsea, we cannot afford to play a slow tempo match with the hopes of disrupting the opposition's momentum. To be successful in this match, we need to be aggressive and take the play to Man Utd. We will fight for every loose ball, be combative in all areas of the pitch and we will drive at Utd time and time again to keep them on the back foot. To give ourselves the best chance of scoring with every attack, we will be looking to play a very adventurous formation in possession which will mean pouring almost every player in to the attack to create space and to overload the opposition defence. In attack, our formation will look like:

---------------Cech-----------------
-------Jedvaj------Hummels-------
Lahm--Nainggolan--Guarin--Gibbs
---Sterling-Yaya Toure-Goetze---
-----------Lewandowski------------

Jedvaj and Hummels will push forward in order to keep our formation tight, we cannot afford to become overstretched. If we cannot move forward with play, they will look to drop deeper, provide and outlet and play back to the keeper where we can start our attack again with more space. Lahm and Gibbs will look to push forward to provide a wide option for the team but they will not push further than our midfield line so that we are not caught on the break. Rather, their purpose will be to keep United's formation stretched and to provide and outlet from midfield.

Nainggolan and Guarin will look to push on from midfield if there is space. They will take it in turns to bomb forward with the other covering. With Guarin and Radja blocking off play through midfield, this will give Yaya the chance to sit in the middle and throw his weight around, looking to create space for Goetze and Sterling who will enjoy a roaming game when in possession to punish any lax United defending. When they have space, I want them to run with the ball at the United defence and cause havoc. Otherwise, they will be looking to feed in Lewandowski, who will be constantly looking for that run in behind where he will be at his most dangerous.

Substitutions:

70 minutes: Anderson for Sterling - Anderson is tricky and very direct. He will look to take on his man and beat him for pace. Able to operate in any position behind the striker, he will be more than willing to charge at the United defence from all angles.

75 minutes: Goretzka for Yaya Toure - The Ivorian will not quite be able to play the whole game at the intensity that we require so young Leon Goretzka will take up his position. Goretzka will benefit the team by playing deeper than Toure, looking to spread the ball out to our attacking players and lend a hand in defence.

IF EXTRA TIME:

90 minutes: Soares for Gibbs - A pacey, dependable defender, Soares will slot in at Right Back with Lahm moving to Left Back in order to give us more defensive rigidity. Soares is also a much more accomplished penalty kick taker, which is what this move is eyeing towards.

IF PENALTIES:

1: Lewandowski
2: Goetze
3: Anderson
4: Nainggolan
5: Guarin
6: Goretzka
7: Lahm
8: Soares
9: Hummels
10: Jedvaj
11: Cech

MANCHESTER UNITED v Portsmouth

Injuries: Gaya, Fabregas, Blackett, Perez

-------------------Buffon
Debuchy - Subotic - Howedes - Schmelzer
--------------Khedira - Pirlo
--------Ozil - Hazard - Schurrle
------------------Rooney

Subs: Caceres, Sokratis, Krychowiak, Vilhena, A.Pereira, Mandzukic, Lukaku

-------------

Going with the bluff tactic today. We expect Portsmouth to play Lahm at RB with the aim of stopping Hazard from working his magic, however by playing Hazard at AM and Schurrle at LW, we have Schurrle in his natural position ensuring Lahm stays busy, but leaving Hazard drifting in and around the back of Yaya and Nainggolan, which should be a lot more rewarding for us today. Also would have Ozil one on one against Gibbs, another area where we can get at this Portsmouth defence who are also missing one of their best CB's in Pepe. Arguably by Fabregas being injured we're light in midfield, but with Pirlo able to step in, in a European final, we have the big match experience and ability to cover for Cesc and it shouldn't weaken us at all.

Our front four with assistance from the fullbacks should create plenty of chances, and in midfield we have a trio who can dictate the game in Pirlo, Khedira and Hazard. Ozil plays at RW to target Gibbs and cut inside, while Schurrle is playing LW to give us better workrate on the LW and keep Lahm busy throughout. Rooney plays upfront to give us a more physical impact against their weakened defence.

Buffon - Big match player, but also the chance to win a European trophy before you retire. Distribute from the back to the fullbacks/CM's, stay in communication with your defence throughout, be wary of long range efforts and ensure you stay big for any one on ones. On occasion go long for Rooney.

Subotic/Howedes - Subotic to mark Lewandowski, force him high up the pitch thus limiting his impact close to goal, and Howedes to be the spare man, be first to the second ball and their second striker/AM making runs from midfield. When in possession bring the ball out of defence and use the midfielders ahead of you to help us play out from the back. Both of you go forward for setpieces.

Debuchy/Schmelzer - Both of you to force the Portsmouth wingers out wide, do not allow them to come inside as this will cause more problems for our midfield. They will want to cut inside so force them outside and block their crosses at source. They will try to create problems infield so its vital you only show them down the wing. If they play a diamond with no wingers you will need to form a narrow back four with the CB's and leave no spaces in behind. When we have possession, push forward and support Ozil/Schurrle as they will try to run inside the fullback and you will provide the overlap to either create space or supply crosses into the area for Rooney and link with Hazard. You will need to track back very quickly to ensure we don't get caught on the break.

Khedira/Pirlo - Khedira the box to box man, assist the CB's in dealing with the Portsmouth attack, when we don't have the ball, if they play an AM stay on him, but don't follow if he drifts wide. Be first to any loose balls and in possession look for the attackers and pass rather than bring the ball out. Pirlo is the deep lying playmaker, also able to assist at DM but with more creativity, link the play between defence and attack. Remain composed throughout.

Hazard - Playing the AM role, with the ball I want you to drift left and right, drag their DM out of position as they will be assigned to track your runs, swap with Ozil and Schurrle on occasion to create confusion and leave space for your teammates to run into. Link with Schurrle, Ozil, Rooney and Pirlo, look for Rooney on the last defender for a through ball and also shoot if you get the opportunity. Get yourself between their DM and the ball, make them go through you and foul you to stop you, thus creating setpiece chances for us.

Ozil/Schurrle - Both playing out wide and both have the pace and trickery to beat the Portsmouth fullbacks and get crosses in, but both of you will also have our fullback overlapping giving you the chance to cut inside and get shots in. Look to supply Rooney with chances and also provide yourselves with chances. Link up with Hazard, and capitalise on the space Rooney's presence will create for you. Without the ball I expect you two to track back and assist your fullback.

Rooney - you will be expected to occupy the Portsmouth centrebacks, hold up possession and look to turn the defender and shoot. Be strong in the air and look for your teammates trying to pick you out from deep. Shoot on sight. Stay on the last defender's shoulder for any passes in behind.

Subs 70 mins:
If winning: Schurrle off, Krychowiak on. Switch to 4-5-1, Krychowiak giving us better defensive cover alongside Khedira and Pirlo. Absorb pressure and hit on the break. Ozil and Hazard out wide.

If drawing: Schurrle off, Mandzukic on. Same formation but more attacking threat, Ozil - Rooney - Hazard behind Mandzukic, push for the winner without overcommitting.

If losing: Khedira and Schmelzer off, Lukaku and Mandzukic on. Switch to 3-1-4-2, back three of Debuchy - Subotic - Howedes, Pirlo the quarterback, Ozil - Hazard - Rooney - Schurrle behind a front two of Mandzukic and Lukaku. Push for an equaliser, make yourself a hero!

If it goes to penalties:
1. Buffon, 2. Pirlo, 3. Hazard, 4. Rooney, 5. Mandzukic, 6. Ozil, 7. Khedira, 8. Howedes, 9. Debuchy, 10. Schmelzer, 11. Subotic
(Buffon taking first, scoring would give him a boost towards saving penalties later on)

Darmian--Bonucci--Laporte--Ricardo
-------------Pogba----Vidal------------
Sanchez---------James--------Neymar
------------------Aguero----------------

Muslera, Chiellini, J.Martinez, Lamela, Barkley, Benteke, Berahino

In the final again and a chance to regain the trophy after missing out last season, we feel we can get to this side with a powerful display and really go for them from the off

In goal Lloris, a fantastic shot stopper and a keeper that instills confidence in the back four, leads by example from the back, shouting instructions to hos defenders. Out quickly to shut down strikers and close there shooting angles down. Punches clear what he cant catch from high balls and likes to release early to set up quick counters.

Bonucci and Laporte are a solid pairing at CB, on this occassion Bonucci will man mark the CF prob Falcao who althiough is talented is very off form, quick and skillfull for a CB, with great marking abilities, will keep the Falcao away from goal and be on to him quickly as he comes forward so he can intercept any though he has of going for goal. When in possession he will carry the ball out and start attacks from the back. Laporte alongside will mark any big men that come up for corners etc strong in the air and strong in the tackle and make sure he is strong enough to get the ball away from danger.

Isco and Bale will obvs keep them on there toes, but both are quiick so just look to push them out wide and away from danger. Be onto them quickly not allowing them the time to get going.

We go with Pigba and Vidal in the centre of midfield, two absolute workhorses, can both defend and attack, when we defend they will work together to shut there midfield down the AM (Vidal) and second most advanced CM (Pogba), they will close down everything very quickly and not allow there players any time on the ball whatsoever, once the ball is won, then Pogba will be the one mostly to drive on into support Aguero and james, Vidal will stay backjust in case Both good on the ball and both have a great eye for goal, can shoot from a variety of angles. So even tho I have said Pogba th emore likely to drive on, he and Vidal can easily switch roles leaving Pogba sitting in. Always looking to mix it up with who drives orward so no one can be particulary mark him look out for Sanchez and Neymar coming inside and put some nice crisp through balls into them and James and Aguero

Sanchez and Neymar are chosen on the wings, Sanchez work rate is exceptional and will help out the fullback when and if needed. Both quick with nimble feet which more often than not takes them passed the fullback, wether they knock it passed them and drive on or simple a quick turn, and there away. Will have fullbacks supporting them so this allows them to pass and cut inside where both are very useful. Give and go, wait for the return and go for goal, or look to drive into the box in support of Aguero. Neymar focusses more on the ttricks and twists and also pure pace to see him passed, whereas Sanchez likes to make the pass that gives him time to look for space for him to drive into and wait for the return. Both very dangerous and with support from there respective fullbacks we will be a danger out wide. When defending look to get back and stop there defenders becoming a threat. Like said they support the defenders when they have the ball and the defenders support them when we attack.

James is given a free role today to try and break them down, he will drift all over as to make it difficult for his marker to pick him up, as he drifts this will leave holes in the Madrid midfield for us to take advantage of. He will switch with either Winger at times as he looks to get himself into dangerous positons. If he drives centrally he and Aguero will cause a lot of problems, he will pass to the CF and look to move into fantastic positions for Aguiero to get him in in on goal, when we defend I want him to run down the DM looking to keep him off the ball and foerce him into mistakes.

Aguero will get plenty chances, he must put away this Madrid side who will be solid at the back. Get into positions that he can go for goalor at very least drag players away for other players to drive into the space. two good feet, can score from various angles/ranges..All of our front four will be a threat today we must go for it and keep pace with the league leaders. Can hold it up and look for runners, in particular James, and the two wingers running into support.Aguero, Sanchez ad Neymar can all rotate and take the position an tactics gven to each above

A very difficult game but we have a good side defensively and going forward, quick passing, one twos and drive into positions to recieve a return ball, we really must go fr it, at the same time nothing risky

I want us to go out and play with lots of energy, pressing in Atletico's style and countering at pace in order to play to our strengths.

We will begin our pressing on half way, getting right in their faces, pressing in numbers, narrowing the field so that if they go wide, we move the midfield and attack in order to surround them on the wings, having the FB and winger on that side press the men on the ball, and the midfield and other two forwards come across to block off the passing routes into central areas, keep them surrounded and force the high balls into the box that our CBs will deal with all day, or loose passes into midfield that we can pick up on and burst forward. If from our first stage of pressing, which will be the front three on their midfield, they send it forward centrally we make ourselves very narrow, the wide men tucking in and FBs being joined to our CBs, this allows us to make things very compact in midfield, press very quickly and make sure Chelsea can't build any fast rhythm, making things scrappy if we have to. It will also mean that when their wide men inevitably look to play infield, they find themselves surrounded, there won't be space between the lines and there won't be space between CB and FB to play in the channel, if a defender is beaten he has the other defender on that side as cover. If they look to get the ball wide when we pack the middle we won't be worried, the wingers have excellent work rate and will go and shut things down, any crosses we will be first two with two excellent and physical CBs.

When we win the ball we will counter with lighting pace. Tiago, Gabi and Saul start as a three so that if they win the ball they can move it quickly between themselves, as they do at Ateltico, and then find the forwards when the space opens up. We want Bale stretching the game, starting in his favoured left side where we he won't be predictable, he will look to either go down the side of the FB and cross or cut inside and use his pace against the slow CBs. Isco will use his clever movement to find spaces in dangerous areas, either outwide or coming across to link with Falcao and Bale, looking to create chances or go for goal. Falcao loves this system, it gives him the space he craves to tear the opposition defence apart, when we counter he allows the CBs to get tight as this leaves space for the other attackers, however as soon as we get around their penalty area he will come alive, using his excellent movement to peel off the defenders and finish chances that come his way. At times we will use Bale's pace centrally, running off Falcao who holds the ball up well and uses his good passing to play in Bale, where he will really hurt the two CBs. Both FBs will be invited to attack when we do have the ball, stretching the game, doubling up out wide if we have the chance, but they are also both very adept at going into the box which will be a major weapon for us as the opposition CBs can deal with crosses all day long, but if we can be clever and use underlapping runs from the FBs to get into the box, they will have Isco, Bale, Falcao to pick out, as well as Saul who will use his good energy to make late runs into the box.

Subs:

If Winning: Jiménez for Isco 75', we go 4-4-2 narrow, just like Atletico madrid again, with the two forwards coming deeper to help defend, it will give us 10 players in central areas when they try come through the middle. Mario Suarez for Tiago 80' fresh legs, like for like. Gamez for Falcao 85', 5-4-1.

If Drawing: Suarez for Tiago 70', like for like fresh legs. Etoo for Falcao 75', the guy lives for the big games, he'll come on and do his thing. Giovinco for Isco 100', in extra time, fresh pace to hurt a tiring defence.

If Losing: Giovinco for Saul 70', 4-4-2 up front with Falcao, we will press higher up and look to create more chances. Etoo for Tiago 75', Isco CM, Gio RM, Etoo upfront. Jiménez for Maicon 85', 3 at the back, 3 up top go for it.

Penalties:

1. Bale
2. Gabi
3. Isco

Cup Final day versus our big rivals, a good chance to win our second trophy in a week, look to play our usual fast free flowing footbal in possession and without we will hound them down like a pack of Wolves
