Avelar and Ibarbo for two. I remember some on here slating both, when we were linked with them. Now we hear top Serie A clubs and Prem clubs looking at both. He's done it for years. And as I've said, it's more than likely his set-up (including Salerno) that finds these players and develops them.
He's said himself, that partly how he's kept Cagliari afloat.

Cellino doesn't spot any players, his scouts do.
Ibarbo is an indicator of what exactly? He's a winger who has scored about a dozen goals in 100 games.
And how is Avelar an indicator of Cellino's ability to spot a player exactly?
You're making it out that he discovers young players who become international superstars.
He doesn't. You're just making stuff up to try and make MC out to be a good owner.

Jonty, as my Dad always said "some folk are only happy when they're miserable".
Maybe read my response before you blast that flame-thrower willy-nilly. I said his 'set-up'. Which includes his scouts. Whether you like it or not (and clearly you don't) he has built a football set-up at Cagliari that works. I'm hoping Salerno moves in at Leeds as do Cellino's scouts. At the very least, he mirrors the set-up.
But, have it Jonty.
Are you snd michael@leechapmanssofa related?

"One thing MC can do, is spot a player."
Was what you said batty. I'm not saying that he doesn't but if you make a claim like that what do you have to back it up exactly?
Over 22 years how many stars have we heard of that MC unearthed and brought to Cagliari?
People seem to do this all the time with Cellino, make up or assume stuff about him because all the factual stuff doesn't point to a good owner.
And, at the risk of repeating myself, because I've said it a number of times now, I don't hate Cellino, I just think he has a track record that i don't want to see continued at Leeds.

I also said to you:
"it's more than likely his set-up (including Salerno) that finds these players and develops them. He's said himself, that partly how he's kept Cagliari afloat."
His 'set-up', including scouts, that he built, produces players. It's not about producing 'stars'. It's about producing players of a level that have kept Cagliari in Serie A for 10 + years. Players that prompt other, wealthier, higher-profile clubs, knocking on Cagliari's door and saying "we want player X". A lot like Southampton
in the Prem. MC has built a self-sustaining club that develops and sells on players.
Right then, back to my real life.

batty, every club sells players, if they were really able to 'spot a player' they not be lower half team year in year out, would have made a lot more money and would not be so reliant on loan players.

You could twist that same logic with Ken Bates.
He managed to keep our club afloat by unearthing gems like Snodgrass, Gradel and Becchio.
Next on the list is Ross McCormack.
Every club can point to a handful of good transfers they've done, that have led to a profit.

Exactly Best, doesn't mean that the owner can spot a player.

He's probably got about as much knowledge of talent spotting as some on these boards .I think we can safely say MC will have a scouting policy, and it could be possibly be better than what we have had recently....Or maybe we are doomed...Some don't think MC is good enough,he's dishonest,he can't run a football club,he has no money to spend,he doesn't know football too well,he doesn't know a decent footballer,he can't find the right coach, and the list goes on....Wer'e doomed I tell ya.
