Why did he let Jimmy come in and become night watchman? Fair enough the settled Morgan didn't fancy it but Bopara should have stepped in and demanded to go in when KP wicket fell. He is fighting for an England test career and he goes in hiding. Today Jimmy won't last long but I can see Bell and Morgan put on another partnership and we will see him in the stands and only come in when the slog is on meaning he could lose his wicket cheaply. Actions speak louder than words and if he had come in I think the fans and press would have acknowledged the risk he took to save his career.

dont think it works like that tbh
morgan would have been asked if he wanted a nightwatchman , flower would then decide who the nightwatchman was going to be

Rich tha might have been the case but when a batsman is on there so called last chance saloon then he should have read the situation in that England will be looking to declare and against that weak bowling lineup he could have stepped in and told flower to put him in. Am sure flower is that rigid and would have let him go but now he will come in after 2 wickets fall which could take all day with this pathetic bowling lineup.

maybe he did , we will never know , at end of day flower makes the decisions and not sure he would be happy with bopara offering himself up as nightwatchman just so he could leapfrog morgan in the batting order
bopara might be playing for his place here but flower will do what he thinks is best for the team not ravi bopara
