Something really needs to be done about slow over rates.
I can see India, once again, employing that tactic to try and restrict England.
As Boycott suggests, fine the slow team by 10 runs per over they are behind and that will soon change the mindset of the captain.
I also hate to see this negative bowling that India are adopting. Can't take a wicket so they just bowl wide or pack the legside etc.
They want to salvage a draw and don't care how they do it. I hope England pummel them.
Slow over rates and negative bowling

all teams do it tbh , you cant just blame india
i agree that something needs to be done to prevent it or punish teams for doing it , fines and possible suspensions are limited in their deterrent value
for example india could save this test by slow over rates and cost england a win , if dhoni ends up with a ban for it , who benefits, australia

everyone does it rich, but on this occasion it is India that are guilty.
The penalty extras is the best solution offered so far. Banning Dhoni will only serve to give him a rest and hurt their next opponents (as he is a dreadful captain).

One would be more concerned about delaying on the final day to deny victory for the opponents.
The worst behaviour in test cricket was by Moin Khan's Pakistan team in year 2000 in Karachi. They delayed over rate to about 9 per hour on the final day when Nasser Hussain's England appeared to be winning. The umpires were so irritated by the unsporting tactics of Pakistan that they allowed the match to continue to poor light.

India's performance in this series has been extremely poor, but they don't behave as poorly as the Pakistanis.

del mar, pakistan got taken to town for that shambolic performance.
but that was over 10 years ago and things haven't changed much at all.
