Japan hopes to seize opportunity

Japan's World Cup voyage to Brazil is looking very promising. This is a great chance for us to win our first World Cup and the whole country is behind them and the excitement is growing. With Makoto Hasebe, our captain and one of the nation's most experienced players, occupying the centre of the park to shield the defensive unit and orchestrate attacking moves, we will surely cause other teams major problems.

Another key outlet will be Yuto Nagatomo, Inter Milan's ferocious winger who provides excellent service from the flank. Japan also boasts such a great deal of experience in defense as Atsuto Uchida, Yasuyuki Konno, Hiroki Sakai and Maya Yoshida will definitely keep opposing attackers in check.

Anchoring the defence will be goalkeeper Eiji Kawashima, who also started for Japan in the 2010 World Cup.

Combine all of the individual pieces and Japan certainly has the talent to emerge from the group as clear-cut favourites and could certainly win the tournament.

I know we can win this tournament as the coach and Honda have said many times.

Japan have the best squad of their history, with a little bit of luck and good team work which Japan have they can go far in this tournament, there is no reason why they can not win it.

The closest I have seen, was 2002 WC South Korea. Even if they could get past Germany, they still needed to face the almighty Brazil in the final.

and Sth Korea cheated their way past both Italy and Spain. Bulgaria in 1994 - who beat Argentina, Mexico and then Germany, is a better example.

On the subject of Japan - 3 defeats out of 3 at the Confed cup last year, terrible defence. I do think they might sneak of out of the group but R16 is the ceiling...

Japan need to start worrying about the rest of the world turning their backs on them with the absolute disgusting way they are going against regulations and continuing with their whaling, they are trying to hide behind the fact they are doing it for research but you do not kill thousands of animals for "research" they will not be happy until they make all these animals extinct.
