The Saturday countdown begins and hype surrounding the next bright things for England is upped.
Sterling, Barkley, Lallana....
None carry the weight of past failure and all seem to be full of confidence. This new look/fresh feel is brilliant. But do England need a younger and more progressive man to lead them forward.
Or is the squad unity and direction under Roy good for the long term of the England side.
Really what I am trying to get at is......Barkley to score against Italy COYB!!
My oh my....

I think Barkley will be used as an impact player at this world cup.
If he can continue his development under Martinez he might be in the starting 11 come the Euros.

Sadly most of our players are best used as impact players.

Yeah that's true.
I hope the Ox is fit to start.

Barkley, Ox and Raheem ALL have the potential to be world players (the Germans will be looking at us in admiration instead of the other way round in a couple years time).
We just need to play them in the right system and keep them out of the injury room.

Remember last year when Townsend was the next England superstar? How did that work out?
The hype around these players could be far greater than their abilities, considering none have played at the top level before. Maybe reigning in your expectations might be better.

Will Wilshire or Lampard start?
Glad you agree that welbeck and johnson are out of form

I don't think there is a person on the planet who doesn't think Welbeck, Johnson, Wilshere, and Lampard are out of form.
Even their mums think they are.
But otherwise the other 19 qualify as form players. Even Rooney and Gerrard have form that justifies making the squad even if it's not their personal peak form. Milner was rubbish in the friendly the other day but for city he's been rock solid.
