I downloaded this game couple weeks ago. Time goes so fast playing it
Btw us it ok to conquer a city who's good friends with you? Because a couple of times now these cities have been angry with me and each time I am ready for an attack they become good friends...

If you don't have a decent sized army they won't take you seriously and see you as someone to push around. The downside of this game IMO is the completely bipolar AI. For 90% of the game you will be friends and then all of a sudden without warning they no longer want to be friends and are hostile. I try to make sure I have enough of an army to at least defend with in case of a surprise attack. Then after I began building and take 3 cities and call it a day

Take a city if you have the happiness and ££ to support more cities straight away. Happiness definitely takes a big hit when taking cities.

I think it said my army is the 2nd strongest, not far of the first, and pretty much double the strength of the 3rd place. The other states get larger and it becomes more difficult to cross to places. Once I have learnt the main stuff I will move up from the beginner level

You should try Deity level, that's just torture
I normally play Prince level, may move up to king soon.

Is Civ 5 any better than Civ 3? That was my favourite.

Can't tell you. Played a bit of 4 but it was right before 5 came out so didn't actually get in too many sessions. Maybe logged 40 hrs. On 5 I've got around 350

It's been a while since I played 3 so can't remember it that well even though I played hours on it but from what I remember of 3 I would say 5 is better.

I like 5, although it took a while to get used to not being able to stack. It was also a wee bit frustrating at first not being able to go into editor mid game
I've not got any of the expansion packs though so might try and pick this up.
